Kirito and Asuna's relationship had in fact been well-developed going into this episode. I can totally accept Kirito and Asuna taking their relationship to the next level at this point. But them doing that is kind of important, imo, and I think it deserves more time and focus than just being the last few minutes of an episode that was mostly about Kirito's duel with Heathcliff and Kirito getting saved by Asuna. I mean, just think about everything that happened in this episode - Kirito loses an epic duel to Heathcliff and is forced to join a new guild, Kirito gets a new look and is starting to adjust to life as part of a guild again, Kirito has a nice heart-to-heart with Asuna because of it, Kuradeel reveals himself as a total villain and tries to get revenge on Kirito, Kuradeel kills a man and almost kills Kirito, Kirito is saved by Asuna in highly dramatic fashion, Kuradeel gets killed by Kirito, Kirito and Asuna make love and plan to marry. I don't know... but doesn't that sound like a full arc's worth of plot development? It certainly is a helluva lot to pack into one episode. You have all these major highlight events, and we're not even half-way through the anime yet, so I find it hard understand why they couldn't be spread out more. I found each of these scenes to be very good-to-excellent on their own, but it did feel a bit disjointed to have them all packed in one episode like this.

Great episode, really liking the character development between Asuna and Kirito, everything feels just right to me.
Loved the way how Asuna kept tabs on Kirito via the map xD When Kirito was asking Asuna how much she spent on her house, maybe he spent 4mil on skills

Coming in late to this party...

Seeing it packed with people also isn't all that surprising. I'd imagine the KOB folks probably advertised the hell out of the duel. It's a good way to throw some money into the guild coffers, and you get to see the perfect defense of the guild leader. Quote:

Also, considering how paranoid Kirito likely is as a long-time solo player why should you assume he turned them ALL over? Kuradeel turned over two, Kirito turned over two. Kirito is a much higher level player, and solo's full time... He's probably got a junk drawer full of the things. Likely he looked at what Kuradeel turned in, and matched the numbers. He just made the mistake of turning over a anti-status crystal. But that would be a (semi) safe move if he knew the monsters on the floor didn't use status debuffs. Quote:
Lots of MMO's have unfairly effective status effects. It's sort of a staple. Eve Online's E-War basically means you're stuck twiddling your thumbs for a pretty solid chunk of any fight it's used in. FFXI is very similar... you can be locked down for nearly a minute vs. a monster that couldn't actually kill you if you weren't paralyzed (but can do a much better job of it vs. a paralyzed opponent). |

On a related note and it might be a totally stupid question, but is it possible to conceive children in a VR world? |

Yup. This might be Kirito's disadvantage. He somewhat now over reliant in his speed to beat most of his opponents. If you want unfair, try Shin Megami Tensei games or Atlus games in general, status effects can literally screw with you when you least expect it.

Actually, all Kirito and Asuna has to do now is find a little boy/girl while traveling on the lower levels and adopt her/him. Then again, how the heck does a little boy/girl survive 2 years in this mess without people already helping them? I think it would be too much to program a digital child. That would be so AI intensive, that I don't think it can work without draining too much resources.

Thinking about it, whether they had sex or not is neither here nor there. To me what matters is that Asuna was willing to commit physically and Kirito was willing to commit spiritually to which Asuna agreed to. Sooooooooooooooooooooo touching!!!

Anyway.. She dreamed about her old world. She had thought whether all that happened in those two years were just a dream. She was glad it wasn't. She also mentioned that though she wanted to return, she still want to come back in the game where she has a lot of memories... |
