The source material is in fact the light novels. The manga is based on the light novels as well.
The OVA is the retelling of the entire Friagne arc using info from the Light Novels.

Light novel is still going but the end is coming soon.

From the author's word in volume XX(20), it should end at XXII(22).

I guess it would be asking too much on whether or not season 3 will have a light novel ending or an anime original ending since the light novels are slowly being released. Oh well, I'll just wait in anticipation on what they'll do.

BTW, anyone noticed this? Prior to meeting Yuji, Shana always wore slacks in battle. After Shana came to Misaki City, she always wore a skirt in her battles. Is it just me or are the producers somehow implying that that cute lolis also have nice legs too?

I think that she just doesn't care what she wears, which is one of the the side effects of being taught to have a less "human" mentality care of Wilhelmina.

Having watched the movie, and first season I am bit confused about a seemingly contradiction that happened between the adaptation, and I don't mean timeline/storyline wise.

Also on the movie I saw Kotoko, and Kawada Mami were both credit for a theme song in the movie, can anyone name the song/s they sang in it, and which was by whom?

I understand that, but that doesn't really answer my real question I asked. Or do you mean what was said in the movie can be take as more factually in regards to my question than the anime, since they gave opposite opinions on the matter, even though the anime one took place later.

The song is Tenjō wo Kakeru Monotachi, sang by Kotoko and Kawada Mami, who are I've Sound singers.

Correct me if I am wrong. The principle in anime and movie is the same. The risk of using Tenpa Jyōsai (the summoning of Alastor) is that the Flame Haze will die. However, when Alastor formed a contract with Shana back at Tendo-kyu, Alastor realized the large capacity Shana has and she may survived using Tenpa Jyōsai. Still, it has never been tested, thus Alastor cautions against using it.

In the movie, you will start to understand the risk at the scene when Friagne explained the fact to Yuji.

Hmm I watched a youtube video of someone saying that Season 3 will start "exactly" when the OVA ends, so that may just be the uploader's mistake. But I really do hope its in October since I could not stand waiting a month for September

Its still not decided what Yuuji's fate will be, theres alot of opinions about what will happen to him though. But nothing yet.

Well a Tomogara did eat his soul (although it was still not announced who, and when this happened but I have a good philosophy about it) He is a Mystes which is just like a torch, only a torch that contains a special item inside them (like the Reiji Maigo) which provides infinite amount of PoE. He may live for a few more minutes/hours if his Reiji Maigo was taken away (last series of episodes in Shakugan no Shana II) but yes... He's basically dead, but not completely dead in the minds of people.
