Recently read the first chapter of the manga adaptation of the series and remembered that there was an anime adaptation coming next season, so I re-read the thread and came across this post.

However, I know that there are plenty of readers/viewers out there who enjoy this sort of thing, so I could kinda see it being enjoyed by more people than I initially expected.... I guess for me part of the adaptation's success will be how well it is adapted and where the cut off point will be to make thinge fit into the one cour time period they have. That limited time could possibly make the convolutings more stomachable for me but I also wonder how effectively it would be in relation to being a well done adaptation? I remember at least one other work the studio did in terms of adapting a source, and thought it was plenty fine (at least for my tastes), but am kinda curious to see what it will do ... although part of the curiosity is in a kinda detatched, clinical way - probably against my better judgement, no doubt. XD

This is one of my favorite novels. I read the first volume and a half around two months ago. I would give this a 10/10. Best romcom LN. The writing, characterization, characters, plot, themes, and setting is godly. I highly recommend this to other people (especially the LN). I'm extremely excited for this.
@flower I disagree with your analysis though. I don't particularly like shows with misunderstandings because those shows are usually bad because the misunderstandings are forced and they deteriorate the plot and characters. But in gamers, it just adds to the quality of the character interactions and reveals a lot more about everyone's personalities and gives us an opportunity to find out a lot more about what's going on. IDK, I really like it, personally.

Of course nothing wrong with disagreeing ... although I don't know that I would call what I did primarily as an "analysis" as much as a musing aloud on a composite group of impressions and comparing those to similar works in different mediums that it reminded me of in the past.
The qualifications you made about the effect the misunderstandings had on you as you were reading do make the story sound a bit more interesting though, and would be good for extra qualifications of the nature of the series that may help readers decide whether or no to check out the adaptation - which is excellent. And hey, if you like the series then by all means all the more power to you! For myself though, while the clarification does help to make my impressions soften a bit, I must admit that I am still quite unsure at the moment about it simply because such series in general tend to be difficult for me to stick with to the end. We will see though. ^^

This series is supposed to be dumb humor. No need to wreck our brains over it. And Aoi Sekina's stories have references to other works on nearly every page and every other character's dialogue lines, so people who watch and read lots of manga, light novels, anime are the ones who will enjoy it most. Okay, I'm exaggerating a little, but reader throwing mental tsukkomis every few minutes at the developments is one of the signature quirks in his series. I lol'ed at the 'quality' talk. There is quality in fun entertainment yeah, but there is really no real deep stuff, really, unless I'm reading it wrong

Episode 1:
I'll admit, this was fun even though the characters are a bit generic with the school setting. I felt kinda bad for Tendou since it did seem like she got rejected by Amano when asked to join the Gamer's Club. Hopefully this show will develop their relationship more. Visually, it looked alright although there are some QUALITY scenes. Seems like a fun show so far. Oh I want to know more about that girl playing the fighting video game.
