This ending felt quite off to me. It's just so... plain and sudden. I wasn't expecting it at this point.
As everyone pointed here, if we have the final HS chapter wrapping up both stories, then it would be acceptable. On the other hand... It's somewhat weird to think that a series like K-on! actually has an "ending". The closest to that was the ending of the 4th volume. Graduation is always a natural way of saying something ended but there's "more to come". But then the story really continued. And now, how an "ending" could be done anyway? K-on! is a slice-of-life that didn't really have a tangible plot from the start. It's quite a tricky situation for Kakifly, I must admit. I'm curious to see how he will handle this with the last HS chapter. Oh well... At least Mugi-chan finally will have her Yakisoba? =P

First of all...while the University chapter didn't say anything, this high school chapter at the end does say "look forward to Kakifly sensei's next work". So I'm happy enough knowing this guy isn't going to disappear forever after K-On!
Spoiler for High School Chapter 13 (end):
And thats the K-On! manga (though who knows if the author will start this again or not). I didn't really expect too much from this apart from the cute girls and "fun things are fun" shenanigans, so I'm not too sad. Interested in seeing what else Kakifly has planned, hopefully sooner rather than later.

...and so the series ends (once again), though I can't help but feel the endings were a little abrupt compared to the first time around. Nice to see Nao enjoying the culture festival a little too much, and it was great to see the group grow and get this far. I quite enjoyed this series, and hopefully we get to see what Kakifly-sensei's next work is in the not-too-distant future.

Ah.. it really ends T_T but this is a more proper ending IMO.
After reading this chapter, I really feel that Azusa should go separate ways with HTT since she seemed to have a strong emotional tie with Wakaba Girls.

And, HTT started with 4 and it would end in 4, I guess.

HTT is the One True Band. I see nothing in the new HS chapters that suggests Azusa is anywhere near as attached to the new group as she is to HTT. And how could she be? They've been together six months. She was with HTT for two years. Wakaba Girls hasn't had the many bonding moments that HTT had. The relationships in HTT elevated beyond being just a group of high schoolers playing in a band together. I don't see that in Wakaba Girls at all.

^ Nah, just a personal opinion of mine
I didn't say that her bond with Wakaba is stronger than HTT. I'm fully aware about that. It's more like that she didn't really care about the new club at first and still yearn for her seniors, but as time goes, she developed a feeling for Wakaba Girls and enjoy her time with them. With that said, If Azusa still want to return to HTT that badly like the first time, it feels like Ui, Jun, Nao, and Sumire only acted as a "filler" for her 3rd year. They're just there to accompany a lonely Azusa until she graduates. ^ But of course that's not the case for them

I think it's clear that Azusa still has huge emotional ties with HTT. After all, she wanted her band to play Fuwa Fuwa Time, even though it's not their song and this band has never played it before. And she did it pretty much on instinct, too.
Face it, Wakaba Girls was only a place-holder, so that Azusa wouldn't get lonely without her HTT bandmates. Nao and Sumire will probably continue the LMC and find other members to form a band with, but Azusa's place is with HTT, and nowhere else. And this makes me wish that HTT goes 'pro' even more after they graduate from college. We know they have the skills, and they've become an inseparable group of friends, so it's not impossible. And Azusa could rejoin them eventually. Either way, I wonder if this is the 'true' end, or if Kakifly has an ace up his sleeve.
