Surprising arc abount Henderson and Marthas past. Though, I am quite confused about chronology now. If Loid was in his early teens when war started and Henderson was unib graduate, it does not make sense. Unless there were two different big wars with like 20-30 year gap like in real history.

That's most likely it. The war about to start in this flashback is "WW1", the one that started during Loid's childhood was "WW2".

Anyway, Henderson's backstory came out of the left field.

It was sort of tied to the previous big chapter and I do not mind seeing this backstory personally even if it delays the potential further development of Damien/Anya relationships.

Not to mention the bus hijacking arc, as that arc also hinted that Henderson and Martha have known each other for some time.

Yes, of cause, but I waqs talking specifically regarding how this arc was not fully "out of left field" in the context of the last chapter.
