if they only choose 8, where will the last 2 come from? since this is a new generation of the elite ten it should not be them battling the previous ones.it would be unfair for them to battle older ones.

No, she was just so good that she got accepted as soon as she entered the school. She's a first year, the same as the rest of the people in this competition.

You do realize that this is a high school and there are other years? The elite ten are compromised of the best ones from first, second and third year. Erica is first year, Eizen and Isshiki are second year and we don’t know in which year the other ones are.

Eight would only advance. They will not necessarily all be part of the Ten.

Yes but to even be considered in the 60 people you had to stand out and be chosen. Meaning there were people that didn't and weren't chosen, those are the people on the chopping block.

Nope. They aren't. They would just be disqualified to compete in the next rounds of Autumn Selection but they won't be expelled from the school. Also, from 64 they cut to 8 which means 56 out at once, not 60. And the 64 nominees are already the most elite of the entire year (from 600+) so they're the ones likely to graduate anyway, although not being seated in the top ten.

Hey, anyone think Soma's gonna lose and be disqualitied in the first round? I don't think it'd be possible since the author might not be able to make Soma come back from crushing defeat with any plot device if he did that (and the fans will definitely get pissed because it's unthinkable and stupid), but what if?

If we go strictly by cliché plot progress using this type of tournament format early on, he's bound to lose in the finals (think of the first Martial Arts tournament in DB) only to work his way up again.

I dont think that he will lose in the first round since they did a whole chapter on him preparing for the curry meal. He will past to the next round earning the spice guy's respect.

As for cliché, i would think that he would be in the high numbers (8~10). Then second year would be him facing the higher numbers and knocking them out one by one.
