Episode 1
So this is the aftermath of a failed plan. Even though they probably outnumbered the black army, they still lost because the final boss was too much for them. Yuri is disheartened and he feels it's all his fault they lost. He does want to defeat the black king but he's not sure if he should lead these folks anymore. And this Aram kid is important in some way. Pretty cool stuff I guess. The visuals had quite some coolness. The fights looked good. The explosions were lacking a bit. That first person Yuri view when the little village was under attack was pretty cool. Will stick around for some more episodes. |

Wikipedia's entry on Chain Chronicle has a basic description of the source game's plot - pretty standard "unite different peoples to save world from evil overlord" plot. The failed aftermath angle's pretty interesting.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chain_Chronicle Aram's anime-original, so it'll be interesting to see how he'll fit into the story. PS. Will Aram ever perform an Assassin's Leap of Faith? Will he be revealed as a hapless modern-day teen reliving hs ancestor's memories at the behest of the sinister Abstergo Corp? Will...sorry, wrong franchise. |

As someone who's played the game, it plots really is standard issue. Hero gathers people from all walks of life to combat an evil army bent on destroying the world. Although the failure part never happened so it'll be interesting to see how this progress.

The end result is it's likely many of these guys will get shafted. Also starting at the end of the first arc mean they've all come in one go, and I got no idea who anyone is and why I should care about them. |

The thing about all those characters is that they only ever really leave their kingdoms for that ultimate battle that's supposed to tip the fate of the continent (and in this show fails big time), so really after they return home as it were, you probably won't see them again until you get to whatever episode happens to deal with that major city or region.
The people you're likely to see every episode are basically going to be the main players. That is the Hero and his entourage (so Yuri, Aram, Pheona, Kain, Michida and Marina). But yeah, as it's been pointed out, this is essentially the same as the movie episode 1 except they've thrown an OP/ED onto it (and there's a character theatre at the end, but Crunchyroll doesn't have that for whatever reason)

Not that I know what this anime will do, but your wording missed the target there.

IMO, the issue with Chain's anime story is that it assumes viewers are familiar with Part 1 of the source game, which covered the Black King's initial rise, and the Hero's efforts to unite everyone against him. No doubt seasoned gameplayers will enjoy this twist to the story after Part 1, although newcomers will be pretty lost in regards to the series intro.
Here's some character sheets for the MCs and the world's factions. http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.ph...MainCharacters http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.ph...oniclesLeaders Last edited by zztop; 2017-01-09 at 11:10. |

^Pretty much this, but I'm more worried about how they'll handle any of the side stories.
The game's story and setting was already very generic and the anime didn't do itself any favors by starting at the end of the volume 1. If they gloss over the other character's side stories there will be very little to keep anime-only people from watching. Character interactions are practically what makes chain Chronicle what it is. Spoiler for Need to get this out of the way....:
