I just want to point out that, despite the ANN article conflating the two, there is no evidence that the drama CDs produced by Studio DEEN have any relation to the upcoming anime being produced by TOHO. Those characters and cast may not show up in the anime at all.

What we actually know about the anime is from a newspaper article about the staff's research for this:

A television anime about the adolescence and friendship of high school boys in Sabae City is now in the works at TOHO and other companies. The anime will premiere in October.

According to TOHO, the story is the coming-of-age of high school boys, living in a rural area, who create friendships at school. (Sabae is a city in the western Japanese prefecture of Fukui.) Six members of the anime's staff visited the city and observed the city's eyeglasses shops and main shopping district for research on Sunday. The television series will incorporate much of what the region is famous for, including its world-renowned eyeglasses, Nishiyama Park, and local cuisine.

It can't be noitaminA, because there's a press conference to reveal that timeslot's two fall shows on July 5, but this show isn't get revealed until July 12.

I'm so sleepy my brain is operating on autopilot, so when I scanned the second name column for the seiyuu I went "who the HELL are these people??!" for a while... and then I realized they were the characters and the seiyuu were in the other column. *cough* Anyway, nice cast, and finally Morita Masakazu is in a show I'm interested in, yay! (I love him but he keeps getting roles in anime I don't watch...)

I also have a sort of megane fetish, so that also compels me to check this out. As for the character designs, I think they're pretty meh (cookie-cutter art, all the wrong colors everywhere), but if the show doesn't take itself seriously they may even work. But oh my god, Inoue's character. I don't know what's the worst about him, his nerd glasses (never got the appeal of those ), his outfit, or those shoes...

The opening theme will be "World's End" by MUCC. Ending theme is "Colorful World" by Tomohisa Sako. According to the official website, the show will premiere on Tokyo MX every Sunday at 0:30AM (JST) starting October 6.
