Finally got the email from amazon.co.jp telling me Bake 6 shipped. I'm wondering how Koyomi's commentary will be like.

When you said Bake 6 for a second there I thought you meant Neko since it's technically the sixth book.

Has anyone else seen this Kanboru figure? It looks pretty stunning... still deciding whether to get it or not but I believe it made by GSC.

Awesome pose.

Ending animation? It was indeed complete in the way it was supposed to be.

The opening was at first in the webstream of ep 15 the live action version if I remember correctly. The BD has the animated version.

The ending seems to be the same.

Really nice review. Where do you get the money to pay for those Blu-rays, they're so expensive . About ~6000 yen a pop, I think.

I work^^. And I sold a lot of anime dvds in the last months. I really like Bakemonogatari and the extras are quite good, so I want to supprt the creators. Furthermore, no international release was announced so far, so at the moment the Japanese versiosn are the only legal way to enjoy the episodes (I watched them as fansubs before of course).

It's cheaper if you buy from amazon.co.jp though, only 5300 yen. That's the equivalent of 6 days of lunch. I think the quality of the show and the commentaries are well worth it. The packaging is pretty neat too.

Wow, that's a really good price (for Japan's silly overpriced DVDs and movies, hur hur). I've seen the latest Blu-Ray of Panty Witches 2 going for 9000 yen, with only two episodes (I cried at that, especially considering Amazon US has a bargain Panty Witches pack with 12 episodes for $25. ). Why are JPN DVDs so overpriced, with only two eps a pop?

Because panties are awesome? But of course we all know band-aids are the way to go now.

Maybe so. WWII... with panties! Mmhmm yea that's much more fun to watch.

Is that just a rhetorical question, or do you want a real answer?

In summary, anime is more expensive to produce than most people seem to think. Much more expensive than a typical live action show. And the market just isn't all that big.

I.e. you can also look at it a different way: why are American (and other Western) DVDs so ridiculously under-priced?
