Gakkou Gurashi

This sweet and fluffy moe comedy tells the tale of Yuki Takeya and her friends in the School Life club. These three girls and their adviser spend their after school hours having wacky fun and helping other students in what's sure to be one of the most heart warming series of the year.

Spoiler for PSYCH!:

Apparently the series won't be written only by Kaihou Norimitsu (it's author) but also by:
Kodachi Ukyou (Neppuu Kairiku Bushi Road original script sub writer, co-writing Gunslinger Stratos anime, Boruto the movie, writing Chaos Dragon)
Sakurai Hikaru (WAB visual novel series, Fate/Prototype novels, Fate/Grand Order writer, Psycho-Pass novel)
Higashide Yuuichirou (former "propeller" company writer (Ayakashibito), Fate/Apocrypha novels, Fate/Grand Order writer, Fate/Zero -Heart of Freaks- writer)
Fukami Makoto (Psycho-Pass writer, Yuru Yuri 3rd season writer)
Miwa Kiyumune (Steins;Gate novels, co-writing Gunslinger Stratos anime)
Morise Ryou (Gunslinger Stratos game co-writer, Gunslinger Stratos manga writer, co-writing Gunslinger Stratos anime, Cthulhu Mythology)
etc.

While these people are pretty cool and I understand that they were probably hired by Nitroplus (since Nitroplus is credited as a "script producer" and some of these writers are also working on Gunslinger Stratos anime) I don't really understand why would you need all these people to adapt already existing manga, with even its original writer on board. I understand that in Gunslinger Stratos anime case they had to think about a way to adapt the game's scenario but it shouldn't be that hard with adapting this manga series...

That said, when the story goes full on horror, it's quite good at it. If HotD was an action movie, Gakkou is more psychological horror.

Also, please refrain from talking about the manga too much here. We do have a manga thread for this title, if people want to talk and be spoiled there.
If this series is handled correctly it could be a smashing success, I think.

As others have said it has a powerful capacity to evoke emotions, partly because the genres it touches upon are in two vastly different corners of the spectrum.

Also - a reminder once again to not let ourselves get too close to the territory of hinting and spoilers and such and to head to the manga thread for such discussions. Not that anyone has done so, but ... just a reminder.

I have an appropriate reaction at seeing people who watch this series expecting that what they see is what they get:

Oh yeah, I almost forgot to mention this on Thursday, but Sentai Filmworks has Gakkou Gurashi.

Ep 01

I thought it was interesting to see what they did with the first episode in terms of narrative choices - chronology wise there are quite a few differences, but in terms of general content it is pretty faithful overall to the source material (at least as far as I can remember).

I think the first episode of the adaptation shows some promise, and will tentatively follow for now.
