So it seems that Akane is just like Makishima after all, in the sense that they are abnormalities that don't have their psycho pass go up. Sibil seems to want to recruit her. At least that's my speculation anyway.

Going forward, now that I've thought about this episode, and just seeing this whole story as a huge allegory, Gen is likening the population of a psycho-pass controlled country to the "hyper-oats"

basically, that a completely homogenous, closed off society, puts it self at great danger as it becomes unable to deal with any outside disease/virus/problems that will eventually find its way to that closed system. It's pretty much the worst case scenario of a society that deviates from the "Red Queen" (look that up if you don't know what I'm talking about)

Pretty cool stuff. Looks like Gen is not just poking at Japan's xenophobia, but at other countries' as well (i.e. north Korea, burma, etc etc. . .)

Makishima does whatever he wants because he feels no guilt. Akane does only what she feels is right so she has no reason to feel guilty. Very different things.

And if they try to recruit Akane? They will learn what happens when someone with solid convictions get mad.

If someone wants you dead, you better wish that person is evil. Because an evil person would gloat and want to have more fun before he kills you. But if someone who is GOOD wants you dead, he or she would just strike you down. You would not get any chances.

Fear a good (wo)man with a gun, for she will use it without hesitation.

Very interesting episode. So from what the professor mentioned, P-P's Japan is basically shut itself from the rest of the world: so has it been like that since the Sibyl System came into effect, or does it go back way before that? The mention of the hyper-oats was interesting; haven't we seen the worst when it came to depending on one source of food staple? History does indeed repeat itself.

Poor Akane. She's pretty much under pressure this time, and it was nice that Shion offered her a shoulder to cry on. I liked her statement to Shion, which she told her that, despite all the stress, her hue remains turquoise-blue, and she asks if she's really that 'cold-hearted.' I think Akane's really progressed from her episode 1 self - as a character she's grown a lot, and she's quite relatable, in my opinion.

Other things:
- I liked how Kougami was imagining Makishima joining in his conversation with the professor.
- Even professors, scholars, literary critics, etc. can be deemed 'useless' by Sibyl?
- Well, Ginoza finally snapped; in the end all he wants is to save Kougami. When he turned his back on Masaoka, I felt a sense of foreboding. The picture of Masaoka and his young son shown earlier in the episode contrasts heavily with their current situation.
- The animation quality was much, much better this time, whew.

Finally some recovery after recent weeks' blunders, I could enjoy the episode. Though it kind of felt awkward to see them eat omelets and then tell that 99% of the food consumption was oatmeal. Possibly intentional but still, I can't really understand how non-cyborg people are all content with a diet based on solely oatmeal. Taste and nutrition engineering maybe but I'd like them to address that.

Well, reality isn't very far from that, given even going-to-be-food animals need to eat, there are often crop fields only existing to produce food for the going-to-be-food animals, so starting from oatmeal(or other crops) you get to most of all the other kind of elaborated foods (i'm oversimplifying things here).

That was an uneventful but highly informative episode. It confirmed our suspicions regarding the current state of Japan. They've completely isolated themselves from the rest of the world. The parallels to North Korea and of course Japan itself to some extent are pretty obvious.

Sybil has decided to tell the truth to Akane. This is a decision that will come back to bite them in the ass. She won't accept the system as it is. I'm expecting her to go into full badass mode soon (it will probably take a little time for her to gather her resolve).

I suspect in the cities most people eat processed foods and don't really think or care about what they're eating so long as it's plentiful. Where the professor was out in the sticks and might be among the few to have access to 'real' foods.

You only have to look at the horsemeat scandal to realise how people are buying food that's not what it says on the box, this is how people are unware of where their food comes from. It's easy to extrapolate that to cheap plentiful synthetic food made out of hyper-oats.

They were eating food the guy grew himself. So they were off the food grid.

Gone is the QUALITY animation!

I think this episode pretty much seals the deal that Psycho-Pass Japan is basically an insular North Korea style state at this point. Other countries don't exist not because they don't exist...but because the government hides everyone from it. Christ. This is sounding so much like the problem that North Korea has. The more they have local crop production problems, the more they have to engage the outside world...which contaminates the people.

It's pretty much impossible at this point for Urobachi to not have made Psycho-Pass World into a high tech North korea bassically.

They keep going back to Akane's hue...perhaps they really are trying to imply that Akane is some kind of Asymptomatic. But obviously not like Makishima at least.

Also. What was that "consensus" among the Sybil brains that the one that wasn't hooked in was so surprised about? Is it connected to Akane getting that strange dominator delivery and...a promise to be told everything? Are the Sybil brains going to try to bring Akane in on everything?

I'm also expecting some of this Akane

However, I think the badassery will first used by Sybil to make her kill Kogami since he is also deemed as a criminal.

It's not that surprising. A surprising amount of food in America is some variation of corn. With genetic engineering advances, who knows what kinda culinary things you could manage.

Looking forward to what they will actually tell Akane. The truth or a lie? If it is the truth, is it all within their predictions to make her believe that the system is just? This episode is slow, but it should be worth it.

It doesn't matter what they tell her. Whatever they say would be outside the bounds of the law. And anything outside the protection of law is fair game.
