^ I'd prefer it if they animate Perfect Cherry Blossom or Mountain of Faith personally... IN is just another version based on a folk tale right? It's relatively less 'original' in terms of plot.

I think they should do a movie series, and animate all of them in order. (post-98, so start with EoSD). But Zun has stated he doesn't want anime as it would take focus away from the games... which I think is daft as Touhou fandom is purely character driven, and of the millions of fans out there, most haven't played (m)any of the games -- I myself have only played IN, SA and SWR. I'm just not a fan of the danmaku genre, but the cast is rich and varied, so it's the characters that draw me in... which is why my image collection is approaching almost 16k of just Touhou alone, and I've spent over a thousand dollars on Touhou figures with at least another thousand more on preorder (with more to go after that).

I'd like to see him cave and license real anime rights, but I don't see it happening any time soon.

"Once upon a time there was a place called gensokyo... and there lives a shrine maiden named Hakurei Reimu...." something like that?

I hope the first movie will be the Mima one aka Story of Eastern world.. and how she knew and encounter Marisa for the first time... ^^
