It went a lot more in depth than I expected, so I moved the Dark History discussion to the Turn A thread.

Are there any female gundam pilots that are aces and not druggies and don't have hand-me-down gundams?

Well, no, probably, since there've been very few female Gundam pilots in general, and not a whole lot of them are aces. In fact, the only ones I can remember are Cagalli, Stellar, and Christina McKenzie.

Not sure what the definition of an "ace" would be, but I'd say the following fits your criteria -
08th MS Team - Karen
0080 - Christina
Zeta - Emma (piloted the Mk. II before Kamille did),
ZZ - Roux (piloted the ZZ, or at least the Neo Core Fighter, before Judau did)
Victory - Marbet (piloted the Victory before Usso did), Juca, Connie (both piloted the V Hexa)
G - Rain, Allenby (I guess she could be considered the druggie of that show though)
Seed Destiny - Cagalli (Akatsuki)
00 - Nena

Hope I didn't leave anybody out... It is funny how the number of female ace pilots that aren't druggies and gets suits built for them seem to decrease with time though...

Well, if the Gundam world goes by current standards, an ace pilot generally would have to have shot down at least 5 suits. While they don't pilot Gundams per se, there are a few other notable female aces...

CCA - Kayra Su (She had the RGZ-91. To get a special suit like that, it could be assumed she was an ace.)
CCA - Rezin Schnyder (Blue Geara Doga)
Z, ZZ - Haman Karn
0083 - Cima Garahau (Technically a Gundam unit, being one of the Gundam Project's suits.)
ZZ - Chara Soon
W - Lucrezia Noin

Aina Sahalin is worth mentioning, too, along with Cecily Fairchild, Sochie Heim and Poe Aijee, though they weren't really ace pilots.

Sochie an ace? Naah i wouldn't say so. Sure she's a good pilot in the last half of the show, though nothing i'd class as an ace.

She definitely did manage to shoot down at least 5 suits though, if we're going by that definition of an ace. However, going by that definition, Dan's list would be much, much longer, especially if you consider all of Z, ZZ and Victory's female pilots.

That's what I said. She's noteworthy, but not really much of an ace.

I've never seen Victory, which is why women from there weren't on my list. I also tried to stick to the otiginal topic of women who didn't get hand-me-down suits or suits made just for them, which is why Fa, Lunamaria, Four, Quess and Stellar weren't mentioned in my list, among others.

This might be slightly off topic, but I was wondering is there Gundam Epyon in Super Robot War Alpha Gaiden? If so, can we acquire and use him, and when does he appear?

Thanks in advance for any help.

The R1 licensee has yet to release subtitles of any of the Season 2 episodes, so none of the subtitled episodes are legitimate. Since we do not permit discussion about any fansubs of licensed anime, please let that be the end of that thread of inquiry.

Where did Kunio Okawara come up with the head design of the Gundam?

It came from a Samurai helmet, or 'Kabuto' in Japanese.

In fact the Gundam was designed after Samurai.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kabuto

Check the wiki link and you be able to related to the general Gundam head design.

Front crest + horns = V-Fin
Side crests = Air vents or ears like Wing and Master Gundam's
Neck guard = most Gundam heads has a flap of armour like the neck guard.

ZZ ending?

I just finished watching ZZ (been watching a lot of the older gundams), and was wondering why did Judau and Roux go to Jupiter at the end?

I found ZZ much more enjoyable than Z. Z felt like going on a bad emo trip.

Edit:

I haven't watched stardust yet and was wondering if was worth it? Just reading the synopsis on the wiki leaves me to think its not really worth the time.

@X027

Do you mean the S2 dubs? Because that's what I want to know.

Judau wanted to leave the ways of Earthnoids/adults behind him, I suppose. Don't know if there were any official explanations though.

As for Roux, chalk that up as another Gundam pairing out of nowhere.

I enjoyed it... Plotholes and inconsistencies aside, it really does seem like an abridged, but more mature version of the first three Gundam series.

A quick question here:

I've been looking up on the RX-78 series and I've been wondering...

...Are there official names for units 4, 5 and 7?

I'll list out the RX-78's names that I knew so far:

- RX-78-1 : Prototype Gundam
- RX-78-2 : Gundam
- RX-78-3 : G-3 Gundam
- RX-78-4 : ??? (The blue one with the huge ass laz0r cannon)
- RX-78-5 : ??? (The red one with a bad ass minigun)
- RX-78-6 : Mudrock Gundam
- RX-78-7 : ??? (The one shown in the 30th anniversary thread)
