So there you have it, my synopsis for Broken Blade (the manga is titled Break Blade though). The OVA is actually the original version consist of 6 episodes with each one being about an hour. It was then aired on TV and divided into 12 episodes to match the TV format of 20-or-so minutes per episode. I myself prefer the OVAs because it’s has nicer flow and a more concise watch. Also, the OP & ED are better in the OVAs than the TV series . The TV series did manage to inject some small details but it's not really worth it. I do however recommend that you check out the manga and read from the beginning if you're interested in the story after you watched the anime as there are differences and more details left, and the story also continues in the manga where the anime stops after the defeat of a certain general (not really a spoiler as there are many generals in BB).
Thanks man! I'll check out the OVA

On the subject of the new Gundam show however, does anyone know how long the series will be? 50 eps? Or 2 25 ep seasons???

Split or not, I'm hoping for a longer show like AGE was. The "evolve over time" aspect of the Barbatos won't really work with a 2-cour show, I think, unless it's only meant to get minimal visible upgrades or upgrades like every other episode, both of which I feel would be a waste.

I'm for 50 episodes again, gives the writers more room to build and develop the story.

I'm curious to see how many episodes this will run for. Mixed thoughts on the staff so far but we'll see. The music imo is pretty good though in the PV.

The new PV looks gritty. The title is gritty and even the story looks gritty. Last time I saw a gritty Gundam was The 08th MS Team, and I am surprised no one mentioned the similarities.

After all, what is the RX-79? Its pretty much a Gundam with mismatching, leftover parts. This machine was then thrown into a conflict where an impossible ideal attempted survival against two titanic military factions.

So yes, I think it has some X, some Broken Blade (but a kingdom is always better support), and definitely 08th MS Team.

And I always root for underdogs. Go kids.

I'd like to think that the Barbatos will be constantly be upgraded throughout the series, not just in one or two main battles.

Also, from all the comments I saw in the PV, the Gundam Guy Page, and others, I really got to say that people really can't live down G-Reco, constantly saying "Tekketsu must be better than G-Reco" and stuff..

Versatile Gundams are always more interesting, IMO, compared to the super-robot-esque Gundams in previous installments.

an interesting fact that the Gundam Barbatos isn't the first MS named Barbatos in the meta series, there is a variant of the Phoenix Gundam named GGV-000 Barbatos from SD Gundam G Generation World game, also the fact both are named after the earl & duke of hell.

So is there any chance that there will be other Gundams with name from Ars Goetia appear ? The final villain should have a gundam called "Solomon"

Super-Robot-Esque Gundams are versatile too lol (because they're so OP they can deal with most things)

Wikipedia Summary, take it for what its worth, but I would assume its mostly accurate:

"Post Disaster Era 323, 300 years after a great war between Earth and Mars known as the "Calamity War", Mars has been successfully Terraformed and colonized by humans. However even with the advancements, the humans in Mars crave freedom against the Earth Government. A young orphan named Mikazuki Augus is working for the private contractor group CGS, entrusting the safety of the Martian Princess Cordelia Aina Bernstein with her plans for her nation of Chryse to secure independence from Earth. But one day, they were attacked by the terrorist group Gjallarhorn in hopes to stop the Martian Independence. Worse, CGS's deal with the government has cut off, and they have finally gone rogue after the deal with Orga Itsuka planning to rebel against the adults. Augus must now choose to either follow his friend, or his mission as he stumbles into the legendary mobile suit: the Gundam Barbatos."

So if Mars was terraformed and colonized by humans after the Calamity War, who were the Martians during the Calamity War? Aliens?

You may still get your wish.

From what I can see, the original Japanese text used the word "doryoku-ro" which translates to "power reactor". The word for "nuclear reactor" would be "genhiro", which isn't used here.

That's an important distinction because a power reactor can refer to any type of reactor that produces power (including fictional ones, take the GN Drives from 00), whereas a nuclear reactor would refer to a reactor that specifically uses nuclear fusion and/or fission type processes.

The text doesn't mean that they aren't nuclear reactors, but it does mean that the type of power it uses is still open and not disclosed for the moment.

Also, what I'm hearing to be the official English profile just uses the word "generator", so that further confirms my analysis earlier.

I do hope that they'll tell us eventually though and not just leave it not specified like AGE did.

Perhaps they had space colonies around Mars during the terraforming process who decided to break away/get independence?

Has anyone noticed that the title logo is done vertically, as opposed to the horizontal arrangement the Gundam title logo's been following since the beginning?

(comparison; Anohana in the left and G-Tekketsu in the right)

Yeah, I suddenly thought of AGE this morning. This show could've taken place in the future of AG.

You're awesome as always Sonic, thanks.

As for the original martians sounds to me like they were just humans as well, the first humans who settled the red planet.

Also, for a planet that's been " successfully" terraformed, it's still awfully red looking from that one scene with the ship in space.
