To me, it have a feel of "memories" ~ like it, but I don't get the "sky" theme...

All the photos contains the sky in them, so im guessing that's where theme is.

I think that idea with the multiple gradients for a similar theme is interesting. Maybe those banners can be switched according to the local time of the user that would be a new experience of interactivity

I think this is the first banner contest I am participating in. Since I have not too much time lately my project is rather simple. Oh I almost forgot... there is another thing I did not do before... Kairin fanart (but I have the feeling my interpretation of Kairin is kinda OOC

)

1) the day gradient image:

That character on the right side is supposed to be Kairin. She is day dreaming, thus she's looking kinda emotionless.

2) the dusk gradient image:

Kairin got tired from too much day dreaming. Therefore she looks a little sleepy and possibly melancholic, because another day is dying.

3) the night gradient image:

Night is the time when she sleeps.

4) the dawn gradient image:

I think it is just coincidence that she does yawn at dawn.

p.s. the hair has always the same direction, because there is a steady wind blowing from the left side where she lives... hm, actually I was too lazy to build different hair sets and render them.

edit: I adopted some advice given in the thread and added more hairstyles. Thanks for the input.

I love the concept of it (;, just fix the AnimeSuri and I might just vote for it !

love love love (: center it, lower the brightness just a tad and I might just vote for this too !

@Jinto Lin, I love all of those banners, especially the night one. But I think Kairin should be brighter since the text is so bright. The clouds behind them is so beautiful though !

Really like Kairin in this one ! Everything is great, but now that the green hair is gone, the tree and the green in that is pretty random..

love the feel in this one, just the text bothers me abit. But the birds acting as dots for the "i"s is pretty cool (:

Well... here comes the first version of my first banner, featuring Shiika from Mushi-Uta.

Feedback is greatly appreciated, of course. I know I'm still bad at this, so don't hesitate to point out all the things that look wrong.
I wish I could do something more original (actually, I'd like to use something that is not clouds because I'm never satisfied with how these look), but the sky theme doesn't really allow many different ideas. Here's hoping I can find at least one decent idea before the deadline...

No i agree with Daniel : i still can see the issue on the gradients of the banner.
i can distinguish the banner itself with the 2 mini template at each sides.

there is a problem with the quality i guess. (since it is in PNG, i guess it has been decerased a lot for the size. i would suggest Jpeg, i have encountered near to no problems with gradients with this format)

IMO, I think ya should make the "Anime Suki Forums" less obtrusive and use the artwork and background for the central them. I do know it's animesuki and all that, but it's about banner design and creativity. Most of the banners I see have really large fonts for the "animesuki forums" logo. IMO

ps: Almost finish extracting and touching up on my image ^_^
