Did Ichika and Houki get any type of character development in this vol. beside ichika accidentally tripping on her.

Read volume 8, and I have mixed feelings.
Well, volume 8 was quite short but it had quite a some information hinted or revealed.

Spoiler for Vol 8:

-Chloe. Chifuyu asked her "Dont you want to meet with your little sister(Laura)?". It seems like they were made similarly but not quite the same. And her eyes are more crooked.

-One of Chifuyu and Tabane's classmate during high school checked Ichika's Byakushiki, and as result said it became possible for mass-producing the next generation IS. (I hope it leads to the part where MAN can use IS.)

-The school was attacked, but the girls cant use their IS since they are heavily damaged. So they went Electronic Brain World. There, they went through near NTR situation by Ichika's fake(The coloured illustration). Man, it seems like Houki will be the winner after all.....damn it.

-Chifuyu actually fought a IS without using an IS, and won after having Yamada-sensei ambush the enemy.

-Tabane shows that she isnt just brain. Her physical body is also OVERSPEC, and she barehandly disabled "M"s IS rifle. The only one who can put on a fight physically against her is apparently only Chifuyu. She also knows Ms identity, "Orimura Madoka". She also decides to build Madoka her own IS, though she didnt want to at the beginning when Scoll asked her.

-Tatenashi has completely falled for Ichika. And her real/previous name is "Katana".

Overall, some parts were really rushed. The author hasnt gotten used to balancing out the script, so you will see Ichika in location A, then at location B within a page.

so nothing is truly resolved on with madoka and no "official" confirmation on the fact she is ichika's twin sister, does ichika's density know no bounds, I mean seriously he saw about four of the girls dreaming about being screwed by him and he still has no idea why and also see's houki's dream which I believe has something more to do with love than lust. and he still has know idea huh, y'know at times like this even though houki is in the lead because of his denseness this series will end with a harem ending, and tabane has entered mad scientist territory, modifying her own body

-I don't think Tabane trained as hard as her sister, so she probably
Had nanomachines inside her. Tabane took the food eventhough the
Professor knew it was drug to cause her to sleep, and it surprised Squall.
- When Autumn took kuu as hostage, Tabane was angry.
- The scenes when Kanzashi came out from the bushes after each time Ichika saved a girl and Ichika cleaned her hair were cute.
- Fake Ichika in Houki's dream was stronger than her, maybe as strong as Chifuyu, but Houki knew he was a fake after real Ichika groped her breasts. . Houki screamed to the fake to get lost.

When Rin and Char were walking together and suddenly the protective shutters were being lowered down, I was like "oh great another attack on the academy". The books were interesting when they involved people other than Ichika and his harem.
Overall, it's a weak vol 8.

I think the reason why he can use an IS is because Chifuyu want her brother to be able to protect himself and others ever since the grand mundo. When she gave up her title of Brunhilde she had shocked the world more than the white knight incident, she threw away her reputation to protect a male who in this world is next to worthless except as menial labor and fodder.

Ichika was marked for death because of that reason and Chifuyu knows she can't protect Ichika forever so Ichika gets his own IS to ensure he can pave the way for a new future.

The only thing that can stand in his way is perhaps a male rival who is the figurehead of the Male Rebellion. A Lion among the mice.

Katana was shot. Finally male soldier was useful.
Kuu judged that Chifuyu was dangerous to her Tabane-sama, so she had a thought of killing Chifuyu, but Chifuyu stopped her by saying Kuu was not on the level yet. After Chifuyu leaved, Kuu drank the coffee, but said it was bitter.
- Speaking about coffee, when it was Maya's turn to fight, Chifuyu drank the coffee made by her assistant and praised it. Maya said it was just an instant coffee.

I was unaware that the qualifications of a lead girl is to want to be screwed.

If anything this puts her above the other girls.

Well, in any other series that would be the case but this is IS I suppose...

Tabane MIGHT actually have a core somewhere with her, with a core, everything is possible.

Whereas Chloe's body is entirely hybrid, hence the term bio-I.S. Tabane never claimed she's a hybrid herself.

That's the thing; what exactly do you mean by hybrid? Is she a human with a core? A core given human form? Is the body organic or synthetic? The distinction falls down to the most minute detail.

1. Human with core as a brain
2. Human with core shard spread within them ("Nanomachines, son")
3. Human with hidden I.S. parts inside ("Nanomachines, son")

Considering Chloe is linked to Laura, it's an artificial organic body.

Can be anything, as long as the human and the machine is effectively one, rather than a human carrying core/parts around.
