Possible to recover content of post?

While writing a post in the quick reply window the thread got closed. After clicking on preview I was greeted by the respective message which unfortunately also caused the entire post to disappear. It is not my intention to carry on a closed thread but I would like to at least recover the text since I spent several hours of research into it and could probably use it in the future.

Is this information stored anywhere?

I'm afraid the forum software doesn't allow that.

Normally the algorithm should not allow the commit of a post to the database, if it detects that the would-be parent thread is closed. The data is just vaporized instead of memorized somewhere.

Some forum softwares out there (and even then I don't know if they're built-in features or made possible through third-party plug-ins and customized coding) allow users to save posts as drafts (if they, for example, accidentally "leave" a thread before hitting the "submit" button), but in your current situation, I think the answer will be a clear "no".

Some browsers provide add-ons that will keep texts you write. In Firefox I use https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir...extarea-cache/

I'd also encourage you to get Microsoft OneNote or a similar application (Evernote, etc). It's easy to dump snippets of information or entire Internet pages in it for future reference then peruse it later.

Some browsers like Edge and Chrome also have OneNote clipper extensions available for download, which makes the aforementioned info-snipping tasks easier.
