Excellent episode, maybe the best of Chuuni Season 2 so far.
The final moments between Yuuta and Rikka were genuinely cute, and Shichimiya added a lot to this episode. Her character has really added a lot to Season 2 (which I fear would be spinning its wheels otherwise). Shichimiya's backstory was pretty interesting. What I take from it is that as she started falling in love with Yuuta, she also found herself also falling out of Chuuni mode. In other words, the more she loved Yuuta the more she found herself feeling distanced from her Chuuni persona. And she didn't want that, as she didn't want to be a "normal girl". So she sort of forced herself to friend-zone Yuuta to keep the good Chuuni times going. It's an interesting relationship dynamic, because it's somewhat unusual and with a nice pinch of irony to it. And so I think Shichimiya's question to Rikka is basically "Can you do it? Can you maintain your Chuuni person while also being in love with Yuuta? Can you stay the Tyrant's Eye while bringing out the Dark Flame Master and going steady with him?" Because Shichimiya couldn't do that, so it's sort of encouraging Rikka to search her own heart to know if she's able to handle that which Shichimiya couldn't. One thing that I think this episode conveyed well, often through body language and facial expressions, is how Shichimiya gets it, and is able to address reality even if through the coded language of Chuuni. One final note on Shichimiya is that I love her laugh. Her seiyu delivers a very nice, solid laugh. The Shinka/Deko subplot was also good. It made for nice breaks in the action, and some good intrigue. I hope future episodes pick up on this.

Oh god, that "I love you"... HNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
She definitely doesn't believe in it. Unlike Rikka, she can tell reality and fantasy apart. She can turn off her chuuni mode when she needs to like she did in this episode. She just doesn't want to be ordinary (or perhaps there is a deeper reason, we don't know enough about her yet) so she chose to continue pretending to be Sophia. Life is more fun for her this way.

This is my favorite episode by far of chuunibyou 2.
We are finally watching their relationship development, the last part with Rikka and Yuuta was really cute. The past of Shichimiya was really interesting as she passed through the same thing as Rikka with obviously different outcomes. The Fake Mori-Summer can be Kumin or the stalker who appear in the second episode, I think. but if it turns out that is Kumin, it would be funny and probably she's just trying to make stronger the relation that Nibutani and Dekomori have.

Best episode of the season so far. After a very weak first 5 episodes, the last two have impressed me more. What I really liked about episode 7 is how you can see that Sophia really is playing just because she wants to have fun and knows it isn't real. I like even more how she questioned if Rikka could keep it up.
I'm honestly hoping they find a happy medium where Rikka realizes it's not real, but still likes to do it at times just to have fun, but can turn it off for normal situations like a regular person. I'd rather not see Yuuta go back to full Chuuni and then watch them both get hauled off to the loonie bin.

Pretty good episode
Satone's past was pretty interesting. So she fell in love with Yuuta, but as she felt her happy Chuuni days were in danger, she sacrificed it. Overall, I'd say she helped Rikka a good bit to become closer to Yuuta - as also indicated by Rikka's "suki" at the end About the actually fake Mori Summer... Kumin can't be excluded, but I think the stalker is more likely. I kind of doubt it's the little sister, but who knows |

Another great episode of Chuunibyou!
Man, Ishiki just can't catch a break this season. I mean, it's hilarious to watch, but still . I'm also guessing its the stalker whose behind the Mori Summer website, since there's no one else I can think of who could plausibly be behind it. It's also nice to see Nibutani and Dekomori get their own subplot together, which will probably ultimately get those two closer and add more fuel to the fire towards those that ship them together . It was nice to get more insight into Satone/Sophia's head, and she's really shaping up to be a very interesting character. She has as much fun with her Chuuni as Rikka does, but has a far better off switch, and even has friends in her class, which is something Rikka was only able to accomplish, barring the society, after dropping her persona. I get the sense that, overall, she's a nice person who knows when to have fun and when to be serious. That's I'm trying to criticize Rikka in comparison, but it is interesting to see the contrasts between the two. Another interesting moment was Satone revealing that she did have feelings for Yuuta, and may still now, but couldn't reconcile the reality of her love and her Chuuni side so cast one aside in favor of the other. It's not at all what I was expecting from her, and offers a potential future conflict for Yuuta and Rikka to overcome as couple . Props to Yuuta for figuring out Rikka's birthday and getting presents for his girlfriend. Though I have to say, I don't think I'll get used to the new Schwarz Shield. It's the color that kinda ruins it, I think, since a black umbrella goes much better with Rikka in my opinion. Though the necklace was a pretty good choice . That "I love you" at the end .

***** Thing is I'm not even sure if Satone’s off switch works the same way as Deko’s off switch? I'm incline to think there are differences between those two. This is just my own interpretation of those two: Deko's not even close to recovery from her chu2byo. Despite her mind was up there, but she can put on a mask and pretend that she was never infected when she was forced to in order to blend into the normal society. Sotone's so close to a complete recovery (or perhaps she already recovered) thanks her crush on Yuuta, but chooses to pretend that she still has the symptoms left in her for some reason which we can only speculate for now. |

Well, this was probably the best episode in the season so far in terms of character development and story. We seem to have two plots going forward at the same time almost, Yuuta and Rikka and Deko and Summer with more focus obviously going to Yuuta and Rikka.
For the Deko/Summer plot, it seems pretty obvious to me at least that the stalker is the one who made the website and not anyone else. One of the posts on the site said that "I am happily with my true love right now" so if we assume they are posting about Summer and misunderstanding her relationship with Yuuta (which we saw some of her other classmates do as well), then it basically eliminates anyone who knows Summer personally and pretty much leaves the stalker. For the Yuuta/Rikka plot, we saw good character development in Rikka and finally got a good idea of what Satone's story is. As a lot of people have already said, Satone seems to have a much better off switch then anyone else in the series and acts like that more for the fun of it then anything else really. I think we can assume that whatever Rikka saw in Yuuta's notebook is the reason she is so jealous whenever he is around Satone cause otherwise it would make no sense that she always wouldn't be jealous of him being around you know, any of the other three girls in the cast .

I would also have to agree that this was the best episode of the season I have seen yet. It was interesting to see Shichimiya's background where she came from and knowing that she was also in love with Yuuta and decided to help Rikka to figure out that she needs to work on their relationship with each other. As for Dekomori, I also wonder who made the post that she read for being the real Mori Summer but it could be the stalker that was presented episodes ago.
I love the scene in the end where Rikka was given her presents for her birthday and declared her love to Yuuta. Well, it will be interesting to see what happens in the next few episodes left. |
