All I've ever been told about how my parents met was that they happened to attend the same party, and that my mom was actually some other guy's date at the time.

My mum and her sister met my dad on a cruise in the pacific. Single mans dream come true?

Na not really, my aunt met her husband on the same cruise.

Dunno what pickup line, if any was used. But I do know there were games of cards played with the crew and much much much vodka drunk. It was a Russian boat and dad speaks Russian so got on the in with the crew (along with the free drinks - ahh the 70s...).

I once knew a guy who said that he preferred to use cheesy pick up lines because, if they made the woman laugh, then he knew she didn't take herself too seriously. I mostly agreed with him. Sometimes people forget just how sexy a good sense of humor can be.

That's a great way to look at things and I applaud that. People can be too serious at times in these day and age.
