Sword Art Online Novels Enter 'Unital Ring' Arc
The official Twitter account for Kadokawa's Dengeki Bunko imprint noted that Volume 59 of the Dengeki Bunko magazine published the prologue chapter for the new "Unital Ring" arc of Reki Kawahara's Sword Art Online light novel series on Saturday. Kawahara himself noted on Twitter that the new arc's title uses a mathematical term in the same vein as the earlier Ordinal Scale title. However, he emphasized that this does not mean that he is linking the two. Kawahara added that the Virtual Reality Massively Multi-player Online projects that have appeared in the story thus far have evolved through Sword Art Online, ALfheim Online, and Gun Gale Online. However, the setting of the new arc has everyone starting from scratch, without Wiki websites or strategy guides. |

The news is not exactly accurate in the sense that the producer is Kashiwada, not Miki who is just the Dengeki editor. It was Kashiwada who wanted to cover the entire Alicization arc. Also, it is a punishment leak for an on-screen game in the stream, so I won't go as far as to say it is an ultimate confirmation. The chances are very very high but we don't know.
There is going to be a chance for it to be rushed. Kashiwada is also the producer in charge of Grancrest Senki, which got the insane rush-fuck going on now (one of the volumes was covered in one episode), because he wanted to reach the latest climax point in the series (volume 9-10). Akasaki also asked how many cours but it wasn't revealed. So maybe it won't be just two-cour. But I won't be surprised if it is just two-cour, given what Kashiwada had been up to lately with his adaptations. https://youtu.be/n8DDzqZ7bBk?t=2564 There's going to be some announcement next week. We don't know anything except there's going to be some announcement.
edit: here's the leak: https://youtu.be/MQ-NMqbz5zQ?t=4754 There's probably going to be a livestream and an announcement during it. Last edited by larethian; 2018-02-20 at 22:19. |

Seems I got trolled. From the way they said during their discussion of leaks taking place earlier, I thought it would be something related to the anime. The stream this week was probably referring to the final stream on Fatal Bullet some days ago, with some new announcements on the game. But then, I didn't bother to watch the full stream anyway, so maybe there were hints *shrug*

Wouldn't it make more sense for there to be further news at the upcoming Dengeki Game Festival on March 10th?
Specifically at the Dengeki Bunko Stage which is replacing the Dengeki Bunko Spring Festival this year? At least that's what Index fans are banking on.

Reki Kawahara finished writing his new Progressive work Canon of the Golden Rule at his website http://wordgear.x0.com/novel/ on March 22. After the end he mentions he will remove it from the site after 48 hours.
