"Episode 24 is subtitled 'Choice.' The members of Chor Tempest are forced to go to the spring. Their day of choice closes in on them. For a long time they couldn’t go to the spring because they had to fight. Now, all of a sudden, it’s: 'You have to go to the Spring tomorrow and choose your gender.' Man or a woman? Difficult.

Having decided to go, on the day before, they make memories on Arcus Prima [I think that’s what it says]. On the way to the Spring, they are in excessively high spirits. Mixed with fear and confusion. This is the episode's first highlight.

Highlight two is Yun! Yun! Ore Yun! Having seen the true nature of Onashia in the previous episode, Yun makes a choice different from that of the others. What are her thoughts? What choice does she make? What will Onashia do?

Just watch."

I think we know this show fairly well, by now. But it will be fun to watch it all go down, and there are some surprises in store, no doubt. I want to be surprised, but I also want to see things continue to be so beautifully coherent with the characters and the situation.

EDIT: In her "scrapbook," AS now has a drawing of Aaeru after she freed the Simoun from the grip of the Shoukoku soldier. She says she was listening to Soul Flower while she was doing it (posted today, Japan time), and the drawing came out scarier than she expected:

So, why is everyone from Chor Tempest ordered to go to the Spring? Alti and Floe and a couple of the other sibyllae are still only 16, right? Shouldn't they have a few more months to wait before they go?

I'd say both wings are the same. The examples shown are probably just off model or skewed by perspective.

Actually, While Marimite currently is way more known in fan-cricles, I'd say Simoun has a far, far wider appeal as far as audience goes. The setting employed by characterisation process just makes the whole thing more easily approachable in this case. That, and it's far easier to write an interesting synopsis of the later than the former .

And by extension of that, by the end of the day, it's always easier to sell "Drama with GIRLS KISSING and FIGHTING evil with a setting like LAST EXILE" than "So, there's these girls in this school... and they talk a lot... and get wound up a lot.... and cry over silly things you don't usually cry over. But really, hey, it's kind of awsome. Honest!" .

Well, as the girls themselves formulated it, they're not needed anymore or even wanted, for the matter, so it's quite understandable I'd say.
Peace treaty says Chor Tempest is to go poof, and the best to get rid of them is to obviously ensure they can never take up the role of a Miko/Sibylla again. And, well, the spring is a convinient excuse for all that, even if not everyone's reached the customary age of 17.

Though with that in mind, it may be that there's a good deal of time that's passed since the series started and that they all actually are 17 by this time - I seem to recall either Kaimu or Alti talking about their sister turning 17 in a few months sometime early on in the series.

Seconded. Mari-mite is probably not very marketable in the U.S. The guys will get bored, and the girls will be like: "Wait, they don't like each other like that, do they? " and drop it to go watch Gravitation instead.

I've just picked up the series today so I read wikipedia to check out first so it is not that confused to me when watching...too bad not many knowledgeable fansubber want to sub this (anime-kraze did a very nice sub+full explaination of tech/lingo(the whole chess thingy,etc) of Last Exile anime)

I know Dominura's hair is darker, but Onashia seems to be very (almost deathly) pale anyway - except for her eyes, of course. Her hair might have changed as well - and of course, it is very light in that scene

I'd have agreed with you, except that I watched a couple of early eps last night and can vouch for the fact that the sides are different. The difference is slight in certain views, but it's definitely there. I never noticed it before.
