That was probably the best worst game I've ever watched. So much effort and great play from both teams filled with huge screw ups by the refs. I mean hell, with that much evidence in the video replays how could you possibly screw that up. These refs man.

That TD was the worst BS I have ever seen. I don't want to say anything else in case I say something I regret.

That wasn't even simultaneous, Jennings had the ball with both arms wrapped around it on the ground, then Tate ripped it away. The back judge even signaled touchback. I don't get, with replay, how you blow that call.

From the rulebook:

"It's not a simultaneous catch if a player gains control first & and the opponent subsequently gains joint control." <---That's exactly what happened.

^Simultaneous catch is a judgment call, so once it goes to replay it has to be overtly obvious...So that portion of the call is correct even if the initial call was horse$hit...

The more I watch the play though, there is a sliver of doubt because while Jennings does appear to have more of a chunk of the ball, when they fall to the ground and rollover he (Tate) does have his arms wrapped around the ball...And from the replay, it appears the official who called touchdown only saw the fall to the ground part...

Watch the replay again, the backjudge was 10 yards from the play (The guy who called touchback, WHY THE HELL is he 10 yds away??) and the sidejudge doesn't see anything but when they hit the ground...These refs are trash, but watching the replay carefully I see why it went down that way...And again once you go to the booth to overturn a judgment call it has to be 100% evidence or obviously a monster voice Goodell tells you to say TOUCHDOWN...

I saw that too, they put it on NFLNET, but what I'm saying is, is that that line of text is STILL a judgment..It doesn't matter what that says, if the official uses their judgment to say that it was simultaneous...And once agin (Look at the replay of when the offcial comes in) he ONLY SEES when they fall to the ground, that's why he ruled TD...Neither he, nor the the backjudge saw the first part where Jennings has more control initially...

Spoiler:

Not arguing against you wing, cuz I see what you are saying (I feel mostly bad for these refs, a bunch of Div. II and III college refs trying to adjust to the speed of the NFL), but I just wanted to post the image. Not to mention that Tate took one hand off the ball to regain grip while Jennings kept the ball to his body the entire time when they were going to the ground.

By that point he had already called Touchdown...

But yeah, if I was teaching middle school in Iowa and reffing games on the weekend for Devry Community College, I'd think it was a pretty rad experience to call a simultaneous catch in the endzone on a MNFootball game...A dream even^^...

That fact that some of these refs were hired from the Lingerie League is insane.

I can't believe this is actually happening. It only took three weeks for a God-awful, terrible call to cost a team a game. I thought the replacements were going to be less stellar, but certainly not to this degree. When word spread of the officials being at a stalemate during the summer it wasn't really taking over the sports airwaves. The closer we got to the opening of the season it became a bigger deal. Now, three weeks in, it's the only thing that is being talked about and not the actual games. It's getting worse every single week. The 49ers had 5 challenges Sunday in a loss to the Vikings, plus four timeouts. And now this debacle, one of the worst calls in NFL history. What if this was the Super Bowl? What if this game costs the Packers the playoffs?

Whatever needs to happen to get these officials back on the field, needs to happen. Every Sunday I'm starting to think about my team potentially getting screwed before the game even begins.

Oh and Golden Tate was ridiculous in his post game interview. Seriously bro? I mean I'm not saying he should have said his team should have lost, but he could have played it off a little better.

Well, I believe that was a horrible call. Even though the Seahawks are a division rival, I wanted them to win to prove to everyone how good the NFC West is this year. But alas this wasn't how I wanted them to win. Here's a great analysis video:

http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-networ...-Seahawks-play

Now I get that simultaneous catch is a judgement call. Then it's just very poor judgement from these refs. After the review though, there should be no question. They see everything we see, and Jennings had control first. Even most of the Seattle fans (along with the rest of the fans) agree it was an interception:

http://espn.go.com/espn/fp/flashPoll...pollId=3197833

I'm actually quite mad. I thought nothing could ruin this week's football for me from the way the Cardinals won yesterday. But I guess I was wrong.

EDIT: After reading on further, I found this:

Quote:
The rulebook also states when a simultaneous catch is ruled, you can't review who made the catch. You can only review if it was complete or incomplete.
So the call on the field is a simultaneous catch and obviously the catch was complete. I have to admit that even at regular speed I saw the ball against Jennings' chest so I would have said that it was an interception. But now I will relent a little a say that it's a somewhat more tricky call...even though the official who ruled TD was basically right where. Also I understand now that the review can't overturn it.

But if they're unsure what it was, then they should have never called an unreviewable outcome. You call the catch or the interception, and then review it and see what happened. If it ends up being simultaneous at that point, THEN you call it that. You don't start there. Also, expect a lot of teams to just start abusing each other and basically forcing the new refs into uncomfortable spots now. They clearly don't know the rules, teams know it, and if Goodell won't bring back the real refs, expect some pain and injuries.

Rodger Goodell and the NFL refs got into a fight over pay. The refs decided to strike and the rest was history…

He might crack if someone like Brady, Brees, or Manning gets hurt.

It is sick - that - last night's game will not be enough to crack the NFL, into getting the deal done.

It's enough to force them to make a statement today. But it'll probably end up just being something like "This is a tough job, they're learning, and they're doing the best they can under the circumstances. Give them time."

The NFL hired 112 temporary officials, some of whom had worked the most competitive American college football conferences. They were paid $8,000 for a guaranteed four weeks. Up to that time, the then-striking officials were earning from $24,825 to $69,990 per season, depending on experience.
That's some horsecockery right there...

My understanding is that it has less to do with current compensation and more to do with retirement funds. All the other leagues converted their referees' pension plans from the traditional system where there are guaranteed returns to a "401K" stock plan where the refs pensions are put into mutual funds that move with the market. As someone who has both, and who watched his 401K halve in value during the 2008 market crash, I can understand why the referees would prefer a traditional pension system.

First of all, Even know that we can get on Goodell (he has big part of this) for this problem but the biggest culpits in this is the owners because Goodell is follow what the 31 owners wants (GB is a different story right now) and the owners doesnt want to pay the refs more. Shoot, NBA, MLB and NHL umps and refs run circles around the NFL when its comes down to pay. Outside of NHL, NFL refs has more danger than them.

But at the end, it will take a injury to a superstar player to get them into action and until then, the NFL shield is getting more tanished every day.
