I know everyone's thinking it, but I'll just come out and say, this isn't real steel guys :P It will probably be either a mecha-paintball match or a grappling competition. Gotta say that it's going to be tough to run & gun in those...

wake me up when giant robots are being practical as a tank, helicopter, jet, & boat combined instead of just an impractical annoying being huge slow moving vulnerable targets,

i 'll bet on the US one unless the Kuratas manage to get a modification overhaul before the match, also out of many Japanese giant robots built they had to pick the Kuratas whom itself never challenged any of them back in the local neighborhood.

I thought it was to add melee to the fight? Not to take out the guns? Kuratas have a pretty fancy aiming system, from what I recall.
