I'm slightly intrigued, but putting together a bunch of unique and interesting characters doesn't tell me how the story is... I'd like to know, what kind of cases do they get involved in, are they just comical events or at all serious, is there plot continuity aside from pseudo-development of relationships between characters, are the characters truly dynamic or does their behavior just progress in cliched and predictable ways...? That kinda info. Well, I'll certainly check out an episode or two when it airs.

The word "magic/magician" was already enough to capture my interest *_*
The story and the art style seems nice . . . *interest level increases* The leading character is cute and he's voiced by Jun Fukuyama-sama *_* . . . .I'M SOLD!!! Definitely watching this xD Can't wait

They say that the most catchy part about this anime is that all of the magics are myth based and it got me right there. Plus, there's a bonus of great cast/light novel/awesome art (even though the anime isn't as good but heck with it)/EYE PATCH SHOTA MAIN CHARACTER LOVE

Episode 1 is perfectly pleasant, although hardly awe-inspiring. The first ep follows a couple of cases - a demonic dog menacing the roads and some evil crows plaguing a girl whose father has recently died. Everything is pretty solidly gone, with some decent effects animation for the evil spirits and so forth.
I think what's actually quite impressive is that there's nothing in any way annoying about the first episode at all. The characters are well balanced and not too archetypal, everyone proves useful to the demon-busting somehow, there aren't any squealing histrionics or panty shots despite the large number of female characters, and what humour there is is relatively understated. I'll definitely be tuning in next time, although I'm not really sure where the story can hope to go. It's clearly going to be mostly episodic, presumably devoting a little time to the backstories on all the characters so we can learn where they got their magic from and why they ended up working at Astral, but I hope we get some kind of overarching plotline to make the show cohesive. |

Spoiler for Under the Eyepatch:
Just watched the first episode too: -Pretty enjoyable. A lot of talking in the first episode which is bad for me considering my very limited Japanese. -With the school scene at the end, it looks like this might turn out to be a magic business harem . -The RAW quality is crap. Seriously, does this play on WOWOW? It's too bad because the animation actually doesn't look that bad. -The BGM is wonderful. It really brings the show to life. No OP this episode but ED is pretty good. We'll see how this goes. I guess it all depends on the quality of each "assignment" and the characters. It looks like it will be a lot of fun especially if you're into magic. One of the better shows I've seen for this season so far. |

I thought it was a pretty quality first episode, aside from having no introduction to anything. The BGM though... oi... what was that all about? They had something like the last boss music to an RPG playing while fighting a dog that never even attacked any of them. Still, it was well animated enough... and hopefully they'll do a bit of introduction to at least the premise and characters in the next episode. No OP this episode, though I think it might have played in the end while they showed a tiny montage on the side.

Spoiler for Episode 1 thoughts:
I hope the whole show isn't case-of-the-week and client-of-the-week. Reminds me of: Venus Versus Virus. Hey, we have monsters and a main character with an amazing eye that is used as a last resort that also damages user...

Gah FukuJun sounding like Watanuki and Zero! That right there sold me! Not a bad first epi. The cast def makes up for it. Again not saying it was bad, kinda "sound" as Killz said. I think this has potenial. Hoping for much more good stuff to come.
