Even if the story didn't move, I think it was good for Lala. This chapter, even though Lala hasn't changed, showed Lala can act more mature than she shows. She's a very caring person.

I was also surprised Rito's heart pounded when he heard Run's name. Moreover, I liked how he couldn't tell Lala he liked Haruna after he heard that story from Peke.

I really like how he's finally starting to develop actual feelings for girls other than Haruna. Furthermore, I think this is the second or third time he's considered Momo's harem plan.

Indeed. It's one of the main reasons I prefer manga Lala over the anime one. The anime should have shown more of her caring side instead of always making her look like a ditz.

I personaly dont understand what is in this haruna that rito sees ?? I never liked her from chapter 1 in previous series.... she is plain borring... boring to the max... when she is scared she beats the f...k out of rito (or beats shit with rito himself)... and after soooo many years together in class none she or rito did anything to confess or express theri feelings for each other.... while other girls like Lala, Run already confessed to him in less than a year or even few months...

anyway as for current spoiler chapter... well Rito mostly throught that lala is allways making fun out of him... that she was crazy and all.... but what ren told changed his perception of other girls...like he throught that Haruna was the only one that is kind and good....while lala is the Adhd one... but yeah Ren's words inpalled in rito's heart... that maybe he doesnt know lala as she is and that he needs to learn more about her (and her past)...

and poof he noticed that in reality Lala is really kind, goodhearted and sweat person.... so his perception of her kinda changed 180 degree's that she is really active but her acts somehow are kinda staged like this in order to make everyone happy... like with nana and momo... her inventions were used to calm them down from their fights... so she throught of them before herself...

but what if a good sign is that Lala made Rito red !! to the point she throught rito is sick or something and went closer.....normalt Lala made rito red when she walks naked in front of him (but its the same for every girl)... but now lala was well in cloths and just from their small talk Rito went red.... and stopped thinking about the "I need to tell that I love Haruna".... since ren was right... Lala is an kind angel and he needs to learn more about her

this kinda is a sign that rito needs to clear his mind and stop to look on people on their looks and acting... that he needs to learn more about people than placing marks on people becouse of how they act and how they look...

He's not being weird at having second thoughts about it, since outside certain cultures, harems are just not a possibility. Monogamy is just part of most people's common sense when it comes down to serious relationships. Despite having aliens invading his life for quite a while now, Rito is still an earthling, mainly Japanese.

We know a harem is no problem in Devilukian royalty, but what about Memoruze or the other space girls? I really wonder if Yui or Haruna would be okay with that idea. Momo thinks a harem is perfect, because she thinks if everyone gets Rito, everyone is happy. But for some people, having to share their partner doesn't equal to happiness.

If Darkness does end with a harem end, I'd really want to see how that is delivered.

I think his character is the first that needs to change..,become a little more man,
from the 'beginning of the series, his character developed little...is a good boy.., but,his act,is like a child..,the girls are all for him..would be nice to see Rito take the step with all the girls, one by one..his character.., need to change a bit..

Okay. I'm looking at those spoiler pics, I'm reading the trans summary, and yet my mind still can't grasp around the idea of Nana with huge boobs. Such an strange, alien concept for me...

And wow, Lala intentionally caused that oppai switch to happen? This really makes you wonder how many of her other invention "mishaps" were truly accidental or not. And if it wasn't, she might be closer to Momo's personality than what others had originally thought.

I agree, and this is also one of the main reasons why I like Darkness. Sure, there are a lot of other bishoujo/harem series out there. But this is possibly the first of its kind which seriously tries to tackle the harem concept from start to finish while also including all the would-be complications associated with it.

Just like zibi88, I'm confused as to why Rito feels he needs to tell Lala about his feelings for Haruna since he's already done so in the previous series. He should know Lala is totally okay with the harem too, since she was the first to voice that idea.

Yui would definitely be strongly against it at first, as she tried to make Rito promise he wouldn't do anything shameless with any other girls if she offered herself up to him in chapter 4. Haruna, I don't know. I think she'll probably more open to the idea than Yui at least.

well but we can see that Yui is more and more jelous over Rito... as she stated that promise... and in run chapter she tailed them (and it took some hours as it gone from day to dark ^^)

so we can see a little contrast here....Yui is less open for the idea of polygamy (at least that how it looks like) than haruna (who thinks only lala is the other person besides her)..... but Yui at least tries to be closer to Rito (which is very hard and kinda emberessing to her since its kinda against her own ideals :P).... than Haruna which is kinda in a vegetable state (throught full series so far)

Haruna doesnt even try to get closer... she waits for Rito to be served to her on a silver plate just like that... and I guess she is aware only of Lala as her love rival and since she knows about lala's feeling and her OK with her as 2nd wife of rito... she is ok with current life style and doesnt do anything to change that... sits on her ass for the whole day...

I cant wait for the time... where Haruna comes to realize that there are lots of other girls around rito that too love him.... and they show to try hard to make him love them... become greates idol or be more open at heart to him [yui, yami,mea, momo]....... so maybe that slap in the face of this reality will wake her up and make her "do something"..... since sitting whole day at home and depend only on Lala's kindness which allows her to get closer to rito (lala "needs" to phone her to make her visit ritos house... she wont come out of her own desire...)

the reality should be like: If you dont try to get something... you wont get it

and if we look on the whole manga we see that haruna can get only closer to rito by kindness of Lala and Nana (like the chap where nana summoned the animals... she called haruna in order to get maron to meet mea).... alone without that help she doesnt move anywhere...sits whole day at home and imagins herself with rito >__< damn its hardcore xD

I woudlnt be supprised if in one chapter Run will talk with Kyoko about her progress with rito... so maybe even kyoko gets closer to rito than haruna xD (since rito was the first guy to see her totaly naked [on a street aley]... and got even his back raped by her breasts.... yet even she admited that he is nice & cute and she is ok for him to see her naked >_<)

well Rito's mind is kinda set on "only Haruna" and "no harem as its messes up" and wanted to tell lala again that he loves haruna [reason unknown as lala already knows that... maybe author forgot about ti xD]..... but after Ren's talk about lala beign a super kind angel and he should repay her this kindness...and after that small talk about lala and how she is kind to her sisters and for their sake she acts dumb.... Rito hestitated from saying that he loves haruna... well no wonder... he noticed that he saw lala from a wrong light and she is very kind and thinks more about others than herself.... so this might help him realize taht there are other girls in the world than haruna... and might accept the harem plan as he doesnt want to make girls cry becouse of him... it would be crime if he made lala cry ... the person that makes smiles on others peoples faces ^^

Yup, the only other candidate for harem-ending which would also make sense, is Sekirei. For TLR to have a harem ending is actually the best choice, despite me being CharaxChara shipper, because the whole comedy-ecchi setting fits quite easy into it. You don't have drama-fail and overcoming hardships in order to get A together with B and this makes it easy for TLR's harem route.

@Rito making a move: The easiest way to initialize it next to him having received the fitting mindset, would be to use Yuu. It was a great idea of Yabuki to let Rito befriend him in TLR1, but he didn't use the possiblities correctly (mainly because of the axed ending I think).With him Rito would have a male to ask for advices instead of Momo's troll attempts and Mikan's non-help even if she knows about the a few of the other girls feelings ( eg. Yui + the honmei-valentine chocolate)

Really, I feel like one of the reasons for this is that the girls in this manga get along really well. Even when there are character-specific chapters, there still might be another heroine there helping them along. It's something I really like about this manga.

FINALLY, the long-awaited Lala chapter. I am worried that the Yabuki might be retconning the end of the last series by the description, but that's honestly something that will reveal itself later on. I'm more excited that we're actually getting a Lala chapter.

It's somewhat of a shame that not much happens though. Or rather, it's somewhat of a shame that this chapter was so characteristic of the last series. I somewhat wish we'd get back to the plot, since Rito as a main character needs to develop a little bit more. A little bit more contemplation or wants beyond what was in the first series would help him out a lot.

I wonder if Mikan's warning will actually lead to anything. It's obvious where it's coming from, but after they attempted to save her, I wonder why she hasn't changed her mindset.
