Nothing, absolutely nothing is under my pillow.
If something was under my pillow. I'd feel it in my neck and I would never fall asleep
Heck, sometimes I don't even sleep with a pillow, or bedsheets for that matter. (in the summer)

My drumsticks and practice pad... There's no point lying in bed when you can't sleep. Might as well be productive and practice xD

is that uncomfortable for your neck? I've tried it, and generally it doesn't work.
I'm pretty easy going with my bed...I love to camp, so hard ground doesn't bother me..but I always feel like I sleep better with something under my head

My faux-suede Liz Claiborne parka is actually under my pillow now, because my pillow has gone very flat and I can't find another one... so the jacket is giving it a lift.

There's nothing under my pillow. Nothing I know of, at least...

I usually sleep with my plush Ulquiorra.

I used to sleep with a Nepali Kukri knife under my pillow, but now I just have it at my bedside.

Btw, I have nothing under my pillow even if sometimes I have a huge knife but it's really rare.
That made me laugh.

Agreed completely I always sleep with two XD.

Near me cellphone within arms reach but not on my bed, and same with my alarm when I need to use it to wake up.

What do I sleep with? Uh, well I ussually sleep with a stuffed tiger that I've had for many years, or more recently my plush Azu-nyan , so ya I am type that likes to cuddle something when I sleep .

A knife will not harm you unless you use it against yourself. A phone may be dangerous for you because of its wave (risk of tumor etc...).

I have like a big body pillow that I put under my top pillow. And then my phone and a book.

My phone is always just there because I use it before I go to sleep and fall asleep with it in my hand, and it ends up under my pillow.

Thought I should clear that up. :P

The actual risk of getting a tumor from "waves" off a phone is kinda... well, it's a little far fetched. I mean, I sleep next with my head literally inches away from my computer (which is pulling about 650w constantly), my server (another 250w), a step-down transformer, a UPS, and an industrial grade network switch. I've done that for years, and it doesn't do a thing to me.

Now, what do I usually have under the pillow... snacks, knives, a watch, nunchakus, and spare networking parts (and whatever cables happen to spill over on to my bed). Yeah, I do tend to be a little paranoid.

I'm talking about the wave from a phone. You can't compare that to other material since it's not the same frequency. We don't know if it's danegrous or not because there are not enough serious study about it.

That's why I think we should all apply the precautionary principle. Health >>>>> Alarm.

And to be honest, I'm shocked to see so many people put their phone under their pillow or next to them.

the idea is that it might affect you 50-70 years down the line.
That's why there is no "conclusive studies" yet because these new newfangled gadgets haven't been around long enough to conduct long term studies.

to give an analogy (albit of a bit extreme one) is like to say that I've been smoking for 6 of my last 22 years (the age listen in your profile) and I don't have lung cancer yet!

I personally do think that it is a very possible threat, but obviously the convenience of having a cell phone always in my pocket, and the requirement for all papers to be typed up outweigh the risk down the line (or do they?).

hmm, I wonder if I could type-write all my essays and say that it's for health purposes

Well, what I do with my phone is :
  • I turn it off when I'm going to bed and I put it down 2-3meter away from me
  • When I go out, I put it into my bag
  • If I have a long chat, I use an hands-free headset (that I lost )
