I wonder if we will get really lucky and a special edition dvd release will have english subs on it ^^. We can dream. I'm not really planning on watching the movie untill it has subs sadly. Still can't wait to see it in anyway. Bad thing is I know it will most probs never be released in the UK.

Never say never.

If they can release Battle Royale in England, there'll come a day when you'll see a Death Note movie DVD in your local HMV, though it may take years that is. Until then, try your local Chinatown instead.

They actually had a Full Metal Alchemist Special DVD with English subs, so there is still hope.

When I first read the manga and saw L die, I said "Oh man this would be so great if it was part of his plan, get up GET UP!" But it never happened, glad to see the movie to this scenario into account. This is how I wanted the manga to end.

I just saw the movie (in Chinese subs... I read 1% of it while mostly listening to the Japanese. Wow listening to Japanese for a year really takes you there...). It was awesome, even with the movie-original stuff.

They needed to make Light more heartless in the beginning because I wasn't believing that he killed her own girlfriend even though I know his character from the anime. L was tops all around. I loved the mockery at the end with the bag of chips.

I like how L was being portrayed in the movie. The actor must have studied the mangas. Even better than the anime I would say.

English subs are out? I dont know about other countries, but in singapore, it is out with both chinese and english subs.

Don't like Light's character in the movie -- the real Light is someone who can't wait to get home so he can unleash an evil laugh. Movie light is kind of ambivilent, doesn't have that demonic edge to his schemes, doesn't enjoy the power trip, doesn't chortle and crow over his victories.

I heard that it would be better to just download the raw version and download the subs from kloofy, and just piece it together rather than watch the not so great resolution and engrish. im wondering if anyone has done it that way yet and if they could tell me if its much more worth it?

Its up to you but I think going through all that would deteriorate the feeling of the movie... The link I posted isn't that bad quality. Hope it helps. o.O;
