Most Macross kits flirt between the HG and MG lines of Bandai. It is not really possible to make just the HG version of those kits because the most obvious problem is that Valkyries transform, which meant, they are more complicated to make and thus cost more.

That being said, it is not as if other companies have taken our financial capacity into consideration. Companies, such as Hasegawa, have been producing battloid or fighter only kits that is more affordable but still retain very high standards.

There are many Zentradi units in circulation. Most of them are actually ones you are looking for, cheap and affordable. However, the higher grade Quead suits might cost more.

Well, some Vajra units are supposedly in production, but I am really waiting for the VF-27 myself...

Thanks for that.

When it comes to transforming stuff, I'd been used to the kind of deluxe- and voyager-class figures that Hasbro and TakaraTomy have cooked up for certain TFs lately.

(I still have to get one of those Universe 2.0/Henkei Cyclonus figures...)

In terms of model kits, I suppose the issue of making the transformation work makes sense - while I like the Arios, and love the GN Archer, neither are really all that convincing in HG as transformable figures, but then at least they work as is for the setting they can be found in.

I found a 1/100 action figure for the VF-25F - looked about the same size as a Robot Damashii Gundam, but it was 85 bucks Canadian!

Is that the kind of price one would expect to get a smaller, but still transformable, VF-25, or are there other options?

Most of the model kits are around $40 each. Although I am sure in the near future, the manufacturers will consider other options in regards to cheaper production units. You do have to understand that this series is relatively new, and therefore not many options are immediately available.

Yes, that Sheryl figure has the best face design I've ever seen. It resembles the original very good. Ehh...

Am I the only one who cracked up at "EXCELLENT MODEL SUPER COLLECTION"?

That IS one excellent Sheryl figure, though.

The hair too! I'm impressed. The shorts are too low at the back though, but I guess the guys don't mind :P

These sculptures are great, look at Ranka's frills, and Sheryl's hair (bottom right of image). The only thing I don't like is how Ranka's right leg looks twisted.
