... Perhaps I will just buy the Origination OST. Max Factory already has a monopoly on my money for September.

Along the news.

Aria was licensed in Italy and got a full dubbed release there. I must thanks the anonymous person who dropped the info in Wikipedia.

And then:

News (originally posted by Anon, on ACS):

"The masonic gondoliers of Venice, in alliance with the british grand lodge, have successfully conspired to pull Aria from the air with a total frontal attack. (No suprise, neither group accepts woman).

They managed to destroy the contact between RAI and the Sky Media Group, pulling RAI extra channels from satellite broadcast effective 29th July 2009. There will be a new platform called TivuSat, sometime in the future. Knowing the italian way of things this probably means 2180AD... The Tivu Nigra decoders are not yet available."

To be more specific, they sent another Italian group of professionals that's exclusive to girls.

What a truly wonderful series, impossible to describe without going into prohibited territory - sorry Aika.

It took me almost 2 years to finish all 3 seasons, there was a feeling like I was checking up on some old friends once in a while to see what they were doing, so I couldn't help but feel a little sad when it ended - It's like I've just lost contact with some very good friends.

For those who are receptive to this type of show it's hard not to fall completely in love with it while wishing it would never end, Aria evokes a real desire to grow old with these characters and the beautiful world of Neo Venezia.

It really is the best series in this particular genre. I can just pop in a random episode and it feels like going back home.

I definitely liked this season more than the others, and you could tell that everything in the series had matured to the point of it being awe-inspiring.

Saying things like: "This is good stuff," or "This was a cute series" doesn't cut it; it's in a league of its' own. And I'll try watching it again when I get the chance.
Glad I wasn't the only one XD. I marathon-ed through ARIA, and god, does it make me feel depressed at times (even though it's a happy anime). You look at the kind and happy atmosphere in Neo-Venezia, and then you look at our world (deceit and lies everywhere >>")....kinda depressing, isn't it?

I was so close to crying at Alicia's retirement, and when Akari thought Alicia was gone for good (and keep in mind, I don't usually cry for animes/dramas/movies, even if they were sad).

I really miss this anime. Just hasn't been anything remotely like it since.

2010 US release is a bit disappointing.

I'm not saying it's the same, though a current airing show called Umi Monogatari is directed by Sato Junichi, who also directed the Aria seasons. Both are directed in the same manner, with strong character interaction. Chances are you'll enjoy it.

its not as "peaceful" as Aria. and it seems to be missing that mystic quality that Aria had too.

More like it tried a wee bit too hard in that department and it doesn't flow with the rest of the show.

Think we'll have to wait a bit longer for The Origination? Arietta has 2010 but no definite date still.

maybe mystic was a bad word. not in the sense of super natural or anything, but just that sense of realness. (ha, i used the completely wrong word..)

What Umi Monogatari definitely has is the girl-power aspect much like Sailor Moon, Aria and other girls-centric anime out there.

Plus the character interactions are very similar. Can thank Sato Junichi for that.

Himawari, sunflowers.

Amano Kozue still honors Eri Kawai memories.

I'm still sad for Eri Kawai.
