Same. Despite the age difference, I find it to be a cute pairing. And the artwork I've found for it has been very good.

What's called when a fan likes to pair characters in a friendship instead of a romantic relationship?

I'm saying that because i think of some interaction between characters that normally don't interact frequently but that i can think it will be an amusing pair. Like, for example, Nove and Zafira(wondering if ViVid already make that friendship cannon offscreen xD) or a triunvirate between Caro, Vita and Cinque xD! I also think that is some sort of a good uhm.. "companionship" between Nanoha and Signum. Ln StrikerS those two are seen togheter or mentioned to share work fairly often and there's their two powered battles where both overentusiasm a bit much this is more notorious if we compare it with A's where the two hardly cross any words(in fact i think the only direct conversation they have is during one of the last A's Sound Stages and is very short). Damn! i will left wondering what amazing adventures occur during the ten year gap xDU.

I'm kinda the same, but I don't mind if there's at least a plausable chance that if you but two together they might hook up (ie, they never met but their personalities would compliment each other). I don't believe Hayate/Vivio (along with several other pairings) has such a chance.

Crack pairings are fine for some laughs, but as soon as they start getting taken seriously it becomes an issue for me.

Not sure of the official name, but I'd call it friendshipping and indicate it with a + (Nove+Zafira) rather than the x or / used for romantic coupling.
