This was a pretty great episode, totally had a Gundam Seed flashback with Ozma, like Omni mentioned.
I thought the new opening was cute, is it going to stay like that permanently? Sad to see so little of Sheryl, but the episode still went through a lot of things. I sense the Vajra destroying one of Alto's unlimited V-25's in the future. |

I think it's kinda refreshing that Ozma didn't die...yet. I feel like lately a lot of really good characters are getting the knife really early. |

Well, MaxXMillia and MisaXHikaru clones are just doing well in their relationships, so all is right in the world. XD
Interesting to note, is that Klan seems to still be studying in university, as I heard Mikhail say something about 'daigaku'. Seems as well that Mikhail also has a history of hitting on girls Klan introduces to him as her college buddies or something; c'mon Klan, that's self-defeating in your pursuit of true love. All that said, she was simply adoreable this episode. And the way she said 'watashi wa...' during their fight, I just melted lol. XD As for the episode itself, that's it Ozma. Show Mwu la Fraga AND Kamina how its done! I do hope they go back to range battles later on, as melee and macross just don't jive well together IMO.

I think after all those obvious death flags though Ozma should get some random death next episode...like getting hit by a bus or something... *Shuffles back into the corner once more awaiting sheryl's triumphant return to form*

First, thereīs the non-analytic enjoyment part, where I love and appreciate the characters. This part wants only the best for Sheryl and Alto and other characters I like in the show. Second, there is the "storytelling" part, which looks at the characters in the way how they could best grow and progress. As I said for Sheryl, she started already as a beloved songstress with god-like self-confidence. After you have shown her likeable personality traits, which are to endear her to the audience, you have the problem that you cannot give her further meaningful character progression, if she stays the song-goddess that she has been since the beginning. So, something has to give. Kawamori could have focused on her getting overshadowed by Ranka, and her getting jealous. But this would have made her unsympathetic in the eyes of many viewers, and that clearly is something Kawamori doesnīt want. So, instead he is letting her take a fall on every front, which could lead to a breakdown of sorts, and as we can see from the preview it leads assuredly to some depression. From that low point she can build herself up again, either by regaining her fame as a songstress on her own or maybe ( hopefully! ) going into a whole another direction, by becoming a pilot. As for how she archieves that and with the help from whom, those are story details which are difficult to predict, so unless we get some heavy spoilers, itīs for us to wait and see next thursday. The same applies for the romance front, as it all depends on how much Kawamori wants to involve Alto in her downfall next episode. I can definitely see him giving her support, if he gets wind of what has been happening, but I also can see him not being involved until the next episode after. But as soon as Sheryl-sama decides to take her life in her own hands again, watch out Alto! |

If Sheryl stayed the best at everything and her confidence never wavered she'd just be simply something Ranka has to overcome and surpass, a goal, and nothing more. Kind of like what some Ranka fans seem to think now, that Sheryl's actions are all plot devices for Ranka.

You don't have to go to other series for references. It's all in the Macross universe. |

It is interesting that Bilrer created SMS as a escort force for interstellar travel and transportation.
Kinda like Angel Links without the "doing it for free" thing. Given in the Macross universe there are pirates and black market smugglers it is logical that UN Spacy can't cover everybody. Particularly with the priority with rogue Zentradi groups and modern incarnations of the Anti-UN. I'm beginning to see how Galaxy and SMS got involved in the 117th fleet. Galaxy are the corporations that sponsored the 117th fleet while SMS was it's hired escort. It is understandable that Luca who has a corporation of his own does not want a monopoly in fold transportation. Grace and Galaxy-Anonymous are apparently seeking something more grander ambition than the quick fold travel and communication dream of Bilrer. Grace saying "We" confirms to me that LAI has a branch in Galaxy. Which explains the Dimension eater and the VF-27 being similar to the VF-25. |
