Including those posted above, for something like heavy metal, I'd suggest:

Sex Machineguns
Concerto Moon
Penicillin
Versailles

For death/black metal:

Aliene Ma'riage
Berry
Blood Stain Child
Church of Misery
Deathgaze
Diabolica
Flagitious Idiosyncrasy in the Dilapidation
Gallhammer
Intestine Baalism
Lynch
The Piass
Zombie Ritual
Frosty Eve (they're Chinese, but they are too amazing not to mention)

-I'l add more if find some more =)

Because I am nowhere near being capable of describing music I turn to wikipedia for this:

Guitar Wolf is a three-piece garage punk band founded in Japan in 1987. The band is known for songs with piercing vocals and an extremely loud style of noise rock which emphasizes heavy distortion and feedback. They coined the phrase "Jet Rock 'n' Roll", which they also used to describe their musical style — an energetic cross between The Ramones, rockabilly, classic punk, and noise rock.

I second ACID. My fav J-rock band out there. There is some of their music on www.veoh.com as samples

I also second Nightmare. They have some really good music as well.

And I suggest Maximum The Hormone, they have some catchy metal songs as well. (koi no mega lover, zetsubou billy)
