Did the manga get published in North America and did all the volumes release? Is the manga 'small', does it have only a relatively small amount of volumes, or is it like two dozen or something?

They smushed 2 volumes into 1 for the later half of the series (Which I disapprove of) but there isn't a way to read those versions online (Nobody scans printed releases in general), only the scanlations.

Sooo there was a livestream for Higurashi Sui and I managed to catch some of it (after refreshing everytime premium warnings came up @3@). The two people relaying the news was cosplaying as Satoko & Hanyuu. They even got the producer of Higurashi Sui to cosplay as Ooishi. The only new things we got were some more gameplay on Onikakushi-hen and a DS-arc with Natsumi & Minai Tomoe.
Spoiler for Livestream Images:
They basically just replayed the PV, OP, talked about the characters, and mini-quizzes.

The one in the Satako cosplay looks like she was from the movie. Who is she?
I prefer the Ooishi from the first one. He was cool compared to the second one which I wouldn't be surprised is a pedophile. The scenes he was in were always awkward and creepy.

I got a good chuckle out of that one. But yeah, the first one was much better. While the second on the other hand, was too thin and old. He also started his movie career off in porn for about ten years straight, then moved onto stage and real films. So I wouldn't be surprised if he was a pedophile. |

Wow Satako's live action actress (Erena Ono) is actually part of AKB48. Who know haha
Ughh... with that knowledge, I dont think I can ever watch the second Higurashi movie the same way anymore. I hate it when Japan constantly change their cast in sequels.

If you want to know more about the LA cast, I gathered a bunch of info and added it to the wiki a few months ago. http://whentheycry.wikia.com/wiki/Li...o_Naku_Koro_ni Because porn, Japan, low age of consent, and various other reasons why Japan is creepy. |

I liked the second one over the first. But with any other Live action movie there were a lot of things they could have done better.
I was the one that helped translated the 2nd one. Natsumi chapter would have been a better live action movie to make.

They're probably alright as movies, and I want to give them another shot. I'd just make sure to manage you expectations, and definitely not expect a 100% faithful recreation of the original series' tone. I love the Atonement arc, though; I could see that being very powerful. |

Ignore comments like "They dont look like them" or "They should have dyed their hair and used eye contacts!" or anything similar. Its poor judgement and ignorant. The movie would have been a lot worse and laughable with cosplay and such making it look like a poor fan-made film a high school student made. Japanese directors prefer the realistic route for majority of live action films like Death Note but nobody seem to understand that because they have their what I like to call "anime nostalgia glasses" on 24/7. In conclusion, I would say they are worth a watch at least once. The editing may look weird at times but its worth a watch if you got nothing to do. Also, I like the little twist of adding some of the Watanagashi chapter elements in the first film. You'll understand when you see it.
