Does anyone know of a good comedy anime in which love plays no to a minor role, such as Gintama, Ramen fighter Miki, and Historys Strongest Disciple Kenichi?

Um, Yakitate Japan would be one. You could also consider Lucky Star to be a comedy and love wasn't a factor in that one.

Tokyo Godfathers and Lupin:Castle of Cagliostro are two very good anime movies with a fair amount of comedy in them...
The series Paranoia Agent and Samurai Champloo have a few incredibly funny/hilarious episodes too. Golden Boy is comedy too, but mostly ecchi, which isn't to everyones liking.

I'll assume "love plays no to a minor role" is intended as something like "love plays no more than a minor role"

Jungle wa Itsumo Hare nochi Guu - one of the most hilarious anime around
Irresponsible Captain Tylor - while most definitely a comedy, is not so much laugh-out-loud-funny as entertaining
Detroit Metal City - hilarious

i second jungle wa itsumo hare nochi guu.
i also recommend azumanga daioh as a great comedy with very little to none romance factor.
bamboo blade is also good, with little romance.
