I was really hyped about this, that I watched Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari before this.

now with 2 episodes in... I'm still confused on what is going on...
Could anyone explain it to me?

I don't know some people problem with spin-off I think it was pretty funny and i just think of as a alternate universe it not in the main timeline so it just a fun series to me. Also is this a anime with 1 episode a day. because there already two episodes out and it only been two days

if it is 1 episode per day, and each episode is 4 mins

this means 7 episode a week x 4 min = 28 mins = a full size episode per week, LOL.

so instead of showing a full episode once a week, they spread it out in the entire week as shorts
Except the episodes are like 4-koma style... and doesn't exactly connect correctly.

It doesn't air on the weekend though (I think), so only five episodes a week. Each episode has about three and a half minutes of content, so each week's episodes altogether are slightly shorter than a "normal" anime episode. But yeah with the way this has been presented so far, it's like they took a normal episode and chopped it up into four minute slices. I'd rather just watch the whole thing at once each week.

Episode 2 was more character intros, and I was starting to wonder if Momo's panty shots were going to be a running gag, but episode 3 was a lot better, not least of all because we finally get to see one of the old gang (besides Tenchi). So Tenchi meets Momo somewhere in the (distant) past? I assume this is the same Momo as the present time one from the first two episodes.

Tenchi's seiyuu sounded a bit off at first, but Washu's sounded fine. I really want to hear what the new voice for Ayeka sounds like.

Oh man Tenchi in Tokyo ruined the franchise for me. My favs are still the original canon ova's and the tv series Tenchi Universe. About the updated character design it's decent change, but Tenchi characters for me are so iconic way back in the 90's and damn that has a place in my heart. Dunno what to think.

Yes, everyone in the original cast is the same except for Ayeka's VA.

This looks like a continuation of the OVA's, which is a pleasant surprise. The Masaki house looks the same, yet there seems to be some slight modifications. Washu's lab is in the same place, and she is still an incredible scientist. I don't remember much about Tenchi Universe, so I can't comment if this might be a continuation of that. However, it does seem like OVA continuation so far.

Also, it looks like Momo is originally one of the space faring individuals.

Glad to hear the others are reprising their roles, last time I herd the sexy voice of Ai Orikasa was in Project Justice's Saki.

Washu's lab has been so random in series. I'm also not digging Mihoshi's playboy bunny space police also Sasami's design is strait up a more leg revealing Magical Girl Pretty Sammy Either way the girls now reveal more skin than their previous designs.

Also just saw ep.1-3. Momo's dress look like she's part of Jurai heritage in ep.3, dunno how she dropped. Episode.2 the new girls reminded me of Washu wanting to take Tenchi's sperm.

Tenchi's 22 here. Tenchi was 16 or 18 I think back in the original ova and Sasami was 8 that I am sure off If this is part of the original or tv I think Sasami should be in her early teens 12 to 14 not unless they're keeping her loli, but that kinda hints it's more of a spin off than an actual canon story.

Not a spin-off or a character with the same name? I'm alot more interested now with this series.

The Tenchi Muyo OVA1 was the very first anime series I've ever watched and has always been a special favorite of mine, way back when I needed to rent them on VCR tapes and before online anime streaming had really taken full effect. But with all the degrading spin-offs/loose continuations this series has undergone over the years, I was seriously thinking of skipping this one altogether.

But the 3rd episode was interesting enough for me to give this series a shot at least. Plus, the whole 4-min episode every weekday thing is a pretty novel idea and may help keep my interest in that way. Hopefully, this series will turn out better than I expected.

The bad part of Tenchi Muyo is the spineless nature of the MC in the harem element even in the face of what is a clearly beneficial situation. Its funny i feel like Tenchi is kinda everyone from that generation's first experience of what many people hate in the modern harem MC. He's a badass when it comes to fighting but he's an absolute wimp when it comes to women.

That's sad to hear. Even though when I was a kid I hated Ayeka she's a really fun character, hope the new VA can do the job great. Also Tenchi should be well trained now, why is still a wimp here? Or it's all a facade? Last time I saw him he beats Seina in a race.

Also where is Ryooki? No character design nor an appearance. Guess we have to see in a future episode.

Hmm... episode 3 seems decent but doesn't connect on episode 2. Though it looks like Tenchi met and save Momo before the current series.

Tenchi maybe pretty well trained but the troublesome girls on his harem isn't your ordinary girls. They can pretty much burn the world inside out. I bet leaving Mihoshi on a planet for a day will bring destruction on it

A tweet by Negishi reveals that AIC's head Miura initially wanted to go with an even shorter, 90 seconds x 100 eps format , but the sponsors made them scale that up to what we have now.

This format is okay with me... I can just edit and compile it as one episode per week. But I'm the same boat as you guys, I have no idea what's happening ^^;

No doubt those committed enough can do that, but the format runs the risk of people dropping the show sooner than they otherwise would. For example, existing Tenchi fans would very likely watch at least the first episode in full if it were normal-length, but now you see quite a few of them dropping this after the first or the second episode, really only 3-6 minutes in, because they see an apparently OOC Tenchi and hijinks of an unfamiliar cast and instead of getting the Washu scene a few seconds later with at least some explanation, they'd have to make an appointment with the next episode the following day.

Did we seriously get a recap episode after only four four minute episodes? Man, what the hell.

The recap wasn't even the "normal" three and a half minutes of content, we got an "extended" one minute ED. This show.

Yup dropped, love Tenchi but this is just rubbish and if they do a recap every 5th episode it's simply not worth watching.
