The first season of the anime has six arcs: the four question arcs, Meakashi-hen, and Tsumihoroboshi-hen.

Which version of the DVDs were you watching?

Six? O_O I wouldn't know if it had six, because I only have volumes 5 and 6. (It was all I could find. ^^')

By version, do you mean who made it? The two volumes I have are made by Geneon.

When watching the DVDs, I noticed that the third arc is called Meakashi-hen/Eye-Opening Chapter. I thought to myself then, "I thought Meaksahi-hen was the first answer arc." So I looked it up on Wikipedia, and it said that Meakashi-hen WAS the first answer arc. So...

The anime's order for the first four arcs is Onikakushi-hen, Watanagashi-hen, Meakashi-hen, and Tsumihoroboshi-hen. The game's order for the first four arcs is Onikakushi-hen, Watanagashi-hen, Tatarigoroshi-hen, and Himatsubushi-hen. Why is that?

And since I've never seen Higurashi Kai: Since the first season has two of Kai's arcs, then how will Kai have four arcs like Higurashi? Will it just have two? Or will it include the two arcs from Higurashi and then have the other two Kai arcs?

Someone please tell me; I'll probably never have the chance to watch Kai.

EDIT: I'm just curious but I also have a friend who needs to know...What is the reccommended order for all the Higurashi arcs? Including the basic 8, and all the manga-exclusive, ones made by Alchemist, ect.
Wiki says the first answer arc is Meakashi-hen, yes, that's true but wiki orders them according to the release date of the game (look carefully at the chapter's dates), not the anime. In anime, they re-ordered them so you can catch up the situaton to understand what's going on.

The anime didn't reorder any arcs. It added an additional arc (Disaster Awakening), which contained material cut from other arcs.

Sometimes I've heard Rika's father referred to as a Shinto priest-- not sure if that would mean the Oyashiro religion can be grouped with the Shinto religion. I've heard someone mention something similar on the boards a long time ago. I guess the Oyashiro religion is separate but has strong roots to Shintoism?

"'Shinto gods' are called kami. They are sacred spirits which take the form of things and concepts important to life, such as wind, rain, mountains, trees, rivers and fertility. Humans become kami after they die and are revered by their families as ancestral kami. The kami of extraordinary people are even enshrined at some shrines. The Sun Goddess Amaterasu is considered Shinto's most important kami." (This reminded me of Hanyuu.)

"Shrines organize MATSURI (community festivals) about life passages (births, marriages, age 3-5-7 ceremonies, etc) celebration of family ancestors, etc. (Not much about death, however.) Each local community has its own matsuri traditions featuring colorful costumes, special dances, floats rolled or dragged through the streets, boats, bonfires, wrestling contests, etc. " (Like the 'Watanagashi'?)

I would if there were DVDs in English, because my computer usually won't load videos of any kind.

EDIT: I don't mean to be annoying with the questions, but could someone send me the links for some of the Higurashi desktop pets? I heard someone in the Rei episode 4 thread mention them, and there was a link for Satoko's there, but I couldn't get it to work.

Okay, well, I'll try that link. I just hope it doesn't do what the Satoko one did earlier-it was a .rar type too, and once I saved it, if I clicked on the icon, it would just bring up the 'do you want to save or open' thing over and over again.

I'll try this link and tell you all if it works. (I'm using Windows Vista-might that have anything to do with the Satoko one messing up?)

EDIT: It's doing the same thing as the first one. After it took about 30 minutes to download, I clicked on the icon for it where I saved it, and then it opened a blank internet window and the 'do you want to open or save' thing came up again. No matter what I click from there, it keeps coming up. Could someone PLEASE tell me how to make the desktop pets work right?

"Won't load videos of any kind"
I would highly suggest downloading VLC Player 1.0.0, handles just about anything.
If not, I would also suggest the Combined Community Codecs Pack as well.

Try downloading WinRar and using that to open the file.

Yep, it works now! Thanks!

(Kinda random, but it's hilarious when Mion and Shion start fighting. xD)

She's my favorite, I love when she drinks and sleeps... so adorable. X3

EDIT: I have a question myself, does anybody have ANY information on Tokihogushi-hen from the newest Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kizuna Rasen game? I really want to know more about Nagisa, Natsumi, and Rena. *w*

Spoiler for Tokihogushi:

This is not mine, I haven't played this arc.

Really? Damn, I forgot how I got this arc, but, I do recall having to get the good end of Tsumihoroboshi-hen before I unlocked Tokihogushi-hen & Minagoroshi-hen. I think you then need to tag TIPS 1, 2, 5, and 43, then replay Tsumihoroboshi-hen, and play through it, except there is one point that determines the ending...
