not exactly, if the publishing company feels that there is enough interest they could hire someone else to carry on the writing.

Yes, but it wont be the "same" atleast for me. Original idea and story has disappeared if author didnt do like R.Jordan and left notes and tapes for last book for wheel of time.
Its sad that he died and I also wish that someone picks this up, coz kaze no stigma has much potential and story left |

it might be finished if someone decides to pick up where he left off and its allowed. As weird as it is this situation has happened before with a manga/show you should be atleast familiar with in "Itazura na Kiss"

Yeah I thought of that. Though it was quite a long time before that happened. There is some hope anyways. Otherwise it's left to our own imaginations to figure how things would continue with Ayano and Kazuma. Probably a lot of comedic moments .

You know, as I'm watching the anime again with my club, it's occurring to me more and more that this could almost be seen as a shoujo story told in a shounen style, considering the way Ayano is always acting around Kazuma half the time... well, at least in the beginning. Though I think that for the most part, it continues that way for the rest of the story as well, but I wonder if this is something that really only comes across in the anime and not so much in the novels

not so sure about kaze no stigma, the anime was already 24 episodes and had a decent ending that tied off most of the loose ends personally i think the chances of another anime series is zero and continuation of the manga, slim, if not zero |

You mean the light novels, velvet. The manga is already wrapped up, I think, and it's the novels that matter in this case. The only recent precedent that I can think of is Wheel of Time, but KnS is unfortunately far below that level of popularity. For now it doesn't sound like a continuation is likely to happen, but we've had precious little info about the whole situation. I can't even figure out the author's age or cause of death.

I'm more or less sure that he's male. "Yamato" sounds male as well, though I'm no expert on anthroponymy (and yes I just used Wikipedia to find this word, not really a part of my daily vocabulary )...
There are also some side stories volumes but we don't care about those But translation efforts seem to have stalled for now. |

ANN referred to Takahiro Yamato as male in its news report announcing his death. That's probably as good a source as is likely to be found in English.
