Time to find out what lies and hollow promises we'll get this time around.

That is still one galaxy too close for my liking.

The only real fault of Mass Effect 3 was the ending itself - the rest of the game from the campaign up to Earth to the multiplayer (which I spent most of my game on) was an absolute blast.

And since this appears to be a clean slate in terms of storyline, as long as they keep the actual gameplay great and the storyline consistent it'll be a nice addition to the franchise.

Don't why people are still salty about ME3 ending.

Pfft, the issues with the ME franchise were becoming apparent by the second game. People were just still in denial about it then.

Can't help but feel like they ripped off Fallout 4's Intro with the old music, panning out from the TV.

Trailer looks great!....eh

Nice to finally see something concrete for the next Mass Effect, and, while lacking in actual gameplay, the trailer was still pretty cool to watch .

The new planets look pretty great, and if they can keep that same amount of detail and graphics relatively intact for when we're traversing them in game, the game will at least be quite the visual spectacle .

Looks like we've got a new Krogan squadmate and I think the other was an Asari but can't be sure...

The jets on the new N7 armor being a part of gameplay, both in terms of moving around planets and as a part of combat, looks really cool .

Here's hoping the new version of the Mako works out .

Here's hoping the new Mako drives around places that look like they belong on a planet instead of being mountain climbing extreme

Today we debuted the first cinematic trailer for our next game, Mass Effect™: Andromeda. While we are still many months away from the game’s release date in holiday 2016, we’re excited to show you a bit of where we’re at. First, though, some background on the game itself.

When we wrapped up the original Mass Effect trilogy with Mass Effect 3: Citadel in early 2013, planning and design on Mass Effect: Andromeda was already well underway. We knew we wanted to start with a foundation composed of the best parts of any Mass Effect game: exciting new worlds to discover, great characters, and intense action. At the same time, we clearly wanted to expand the definition of what you should expect from a Mass Effect game.

While we aren’t ready to go into too many details just yet, as you saw in the trailer and can tell by the name, this game is very much a new adventure, taking place far away from and long after the events of the original trilogy. You will play a human, male or female, though that’s actually not the character you saw in the trailer (more on that later). You’ll be exploring an all-new galaxy, Andromeda, and piloting the new and improved Mako you saw. And through it all, you will have a new team of adventurers to work with, learn from, fight alongside of, and fall in love with.

We built this trailer in Frostbite™, our game engine, and it represents our visual target for the final game. We are thrilled by what we’ve already been able to achieve in bringing Mass Effect to Frostbite and by putting our entire focus on PC and current gen consoles. With the time remaining in development, we’re excited about the possibility to push things even more.

Thank you again for all of the support you keep showing us, and we’re looking forward to sharing more details with you near the end of the year. Until then, the teams in our Montreal, Edmonton, and Austin studios will be hard at work creating an entirely new adventure for you to lose yourselves in.

Thanks,

Aaryn Flynn, Studio General Manager, BioWare Canada

Yanick Roy, Studio Director, BioWare Montreal

As soon as I realized it was Mass Effect that was being shown I became Jotaro and started to rapidly punch the wall in excitement.

Self entitlement due to the fact that some seem to think that the developers should give them the experience they want to experience themselves instead of what the developers themselves want to show you, although I do admit that the first version of the ending (which I saw later on youtube because I played the games after the patch) was bad.

The ending was the clusterfuck of 2 people. Two. I don't understand holding the entire studio responsible for that.

It is nice how you try to slip in the real reason at the end and go on a rant about what people didn't like about the last game, good job.

I'm pretty sure a god awful ending that ruined a trilogy and came from a bold faced lie by Bioware definitely could tap into why people weren't happy about it. But, yeah I'm sure it's just self-entitlement, that seems far more likely. People are just crazy.

The "self-entitlement" with the last game is because from the get-go, from the very start, we were told that it'd be a trilogy, and that your choices in the games would go on to craft a unique ending that takes into account all of your significant choices in the ending of the third game. They told us that'd be the case in Mass Effect 1, they told us that'd be the case in Mass Effect 2, and they told us that'd be the case in the build-up to Mass Effect 3.

What we got was "Pick your color" and a distant finale that revealed absolutely nothing of what your choices led to. Mass Effect fans were lied to from the get-go about their final trilogy ending, so of course they were pissed off.

I was half expecting it to be an MMO.

Don't worry, there's still time for them to drop that bombshell.

I hope there's more galactic politics and espionage and less end of the world shenanigans.

Not likely if this is a colonization effort. That looked like Reaper tech bursting from the ground in that trailer.

The trailer was nice to watch and it's good to finally get some information about the next Mass effect game. Though that technology coming out of the ground in the end seem like it might be related to the Reapers.

If they're smart, they're done with the Reapers. Because, sadly, they ran them into the ground. A tremendous shame, because Sovereign is still on my list of most impressive villains of all time (assuming you can consider a creature that thinks of us as less than insects to be a villain). Seriously, conversation with it on Virmire, the revelation of what Saren's ship really was... that whole segment gave me chills. I played through it a dozen times (literally, I had twelve characters to import when ME2 came out), and it still got to me each time.

And then somehow, over the course of the trilogy, they lost that eldritch horror feel, and just became irritable alien robots. I think they overexposed us (or me, at least) to them.

But ANYway, as a result of that, and more, the fact of the matter is that we should be done with the Reapers. That was the entire point of that trilogy, after all. We don't need them showing up again, because if they do it's inevitable that they'll become the villains of the piece again, and we've already done that story.
