Just wanted to thank you for all the effort you put into your translation. Really appeciate that. Hope you will continue after Onikakushi-hen.

Oh and everything works great with your modifications to onscripter on linux. I'd love to beta-test if there's any need for that btw;p

Sure, it'd be great to have a beta tester running Linux. Shall I include you in the list for the next beta release?

There's already a Umineko translation project though.

That's sweet of you guys to say, but like Sterling01 said, there's already an Umineko translation project, and we're already busy enough with Higurashi. It'll take a few more years for us to finish all 8 story arcs working at our current manageable pace, so they'll probably have Umineko done and edited well by the time we'd able to turn to a new project.

And by that point... I'd probably prefer playing a decent English patch that someone else made to working from scratch on a new one.

As always, thanks for the support and let us know if you have any questions or suggestions!

Oh, true, it is numbered as "Higurashi 9".

But how long is it compared to a regular arc, that's the million-dollar question... Well, we'll see when we get there.

IRRC all three arcs put together are about 1/2 the size of Onikakushi

Question Beta-tester casting call

Hi folks,

We've still got a ways to go with Onikakushi Day 14, but we thought we'd go ahead and see if any new people would like to try being in our next beta test. We definitely want people who are willing to slog through and note any problems they find with gameplay or writing, but you won't need to try too hard looking for problems - just note what doesn't "flow" well, what looks like a typo, what seems broken.

Give us a PM if you're interested.

Thanks!

Onikakushi is the very first arc in the story "Higurashi no Naku Koro ni", aka "When They Cry". There are 3 more arcs in Higurashi no Naku Koro ni - Watanagashi, Tatarigoroshi, and Himatsubushi. After that comes the next story, "Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai" (the answer arcs), aka "When They Cry 2", which also has 4 arcs.

I'm not sure what you're asking here.... Which link is dead? If you mean the link to the guide for buying Higurashi, that was just so you can get Himatsubushi in the first place; it will be back up soon.

Otherwise, our rapidshare folder contains English patches for both the Higurashi demo (Onikakushi) and the full game (Himatsubushi).

It ends on day 15, so there are only two left, but they're long ones. Not to mention an epilogue and 'wrap party' .

so on your rapidshare, it also contains the english patch for both onikakushi and himatsubushi? so it means the translation patch for himatsubushi is also there?

i am talking about the previous translators for himatsubushi which is mentioned on the other thread.

When people say "Himatsubushi", they mean the disk with the entire 4 first "question" arcs, which include Onikakushi, Watanagashi, Tatarigoroshi, and Himatsubushi. The only chapters that have been translated are Onikakushi and a little of Minagoroshi (arc 7, in the Matsuribayashi disk, which is the disk with the last 4 "answer" arcs: Meakashi, Tsumihoroboshi, Minagoroshi, and Matsuribayashi).

In short, the Sonozakis are translating Onikakushi, from the Himatsubushi disk, and each new patch contains all the translation from before, so the previous links aren't necessary. The translation for Minagoroshi is dead. That's all.
