My guess is that the manga artist thought it was boring to have an all-black skirt, so she got a plaid one instead. *shrugs*

Why is this?
Just diffrent styles?
n the novel they are plain black. That is why. The manga change it for some reason. I don't know what theartist was thinking, black is, indeed, much better.

Do you think it's better to read the novel first or watch the anime/movie first?

Personally I've already watched all anime episodes... now reading novel volume 2...

And I'm really looking forward to Disappearance... not sure if I should read the novel before watching the movie...

I'd prolly go with reading the novel first because it'll be a while before the movie reaches wherever, unless you're in Japan. I tend to view/read/watch/play source material first because it is the original.

i'd rather watch the movie first, personally. if i knew the plot before i watch it, it'd be boring, for me, that is. same way with how when i tried to read the novels after watching the anime. i don't pay much attention because i already know how things turned out.

Q: what is haruhi theater? geez, i asked this in the other forum but was completely ignored...

Side story featuring the SOS Brigade in a Fantasy RPG-like setting. There was a sequel that placed them in a sort of Star Trek-like setting, and ended with the "hint" that there'd be a Western setting if a third was made.

Were they released in a book form? I thought they'd only been published in the Sneaker, like the short story version of "Someday in the Rain".

The first one was published in the August 2004 edition of the Sneaker and the second one was published in the June 2006 edition. "Someday in the Rain" was published in the next edition: August 2006.

By "book", I meant "print" format.

Roankun seemed to be using "book" as a catch-all for print format.

yeah, well... thanks anyway...

another question. what're taniguchi and kunikida's first name? since all the other classmates have first names... (do they? now i'm not even sure...)

P.S. why's haruhi in the older series if the movies' still showing?

The answer to your second question is because the movie cannot be seen around the world currently. The footage of Haruhi that can be seen easily is older than what is currently airing. From what I can tell, the only shows allowed in the Current Series are ones that are airing in Japan right now.

I want to be doublely sure that I don't violate any spoiler rules about the novels, so I'm tagging the first answer:
Spoiler:

Speculative Question: Are Interfaces human enough to have children? Or more general, are they human templates with ability to manipulate data or data constructs?

Judging by comiket, yes.

Judging by canon, no idea.

Interfaces are identical enough to humans to avoid detection under most forms of investigation. However, a situation in which a human has actually "investigated" that far has not come up.

But doujins always cater to the base human instincts anyway.

Just that some are a little weirdly developed in some than others...O_O
