Which is funny since Nagisa character do resemble Ranka a little...:P
Nagisa voice is growing on me..considering she's 14, she doesn't sound that loli or that mature. She sound like a normal kid.

It's probably because they're still inexperienced that they don't enunciation clearly.

Also, I think I've read somewhere some of the more popular seiyuu like the ones who are voicing the current successors can get themselves a more lucrative package as opposed to a rate.

Id be surprised if the AKB girls doing the voices were getting paid at all.
I take it the anime industry isn't unionized?

There exists a voice actors' union, and from what I recall, Megumi Ogata is one of its members.

The real seiyuu are crystal clear for the most part. You can tell clearly where each word starts and ends.

As for me, some first-time seiyuu may be raw for the most part (and I like fresh new talent), but they have the potential to surprise (i.e. Ayako Yoshitani's Mikoto Urabe in MGX). Our main character is 13 and it just makes sense that Iwata is also 14, thereby meshing well with her character.

There's been some fan speculation about how much the typical AKB member earns (the amount depending on merit or seniority), but as there are no verifiable figures (and unlike in the West, where actor's contracts are considered news), rumors are rumors.

Hrm ... ep 4 was ... odd again. Not bad, mind you. Just ... strange, somehow.

Ah well ... I'll give it another ep or two before deciding.

Apologies ... I should have been more clear. In some ways I was musing aloud to myself.

****

When I say "odd" I am referring to the overall feel I experience when watching the anime and that I experience after it is over when musing on it later on. In other words, it is an extremely "subjective experience"

Hmm ... lemme quote my earlier post on this. Make it easier than re-saying it all over again.

Ok ... well, after watching eps 2 and 3 I still really don't know what to make of this series. It is ... well ... awkward, for lack of a better word. It reminds me of a child who woke up one morning and realized for the first time that they have become an adolescent, and then begins the difficult process of realizing where all his limbs are while moving around.

It's not bad per se, but it is ... well, awkward. Perhaps even a a trifle stilted at times while feeling rushed and trite too. But for all that I find it kinda likeable for some reason. Go figure.
Hope that makes it a little clearer?

Oh yes - and btw serenade_beta, ftr I am a "he".

Nice that Kanata and Sonata could make up. Lol Chieri tells it like it is.

Has something like this ever happened with an AKB48 member and any male musician? Some sort of very steamy duet.

That was pretty awesome, but yeah, I don't think something like that would ever happen in Japan, specially not with idols. The male fans in particular would probably riot or kill themselves, or both.

Wow, Sonata is SOOOO adorable, I just want to hug her and not let go.

PS: If Mimori and Kanata are the cursed 75th generation, and Nagisa and the others are the 77th.... what happened to the 76th?

We can always say that there was no 76th generation... but then 75th wouldn't be the Cursed Gen for nothing, yes?

All right, for a bottle of Tanduay Ice, it's too easy to guess or speculate.

AKB0048 - Episode 4

Lazy, don't feel like writing an essay, so I'll plot my feelings in points.

Sonata is freaking cute! I want to take her home and do indecent things to her.
Chieri got treated unfairly again. Sad to see such a smart girl being made the villain here.
Kanata doesn't enjoy singing and dancing? Seriously? No wonder her skill development has stagnated.
The city they're staying in is gorgeous.

4 episodes in and this anime is holding up well.
