Didn't get a screenshot of it, but just saw a banner ad with sound (on the side) for two free iPods. Some lady said "Congratulations you've won two free ipod nanos!"

I get those huge ads on the front page as well. Are they supposed to just sit there on top of all the content like that until you restart the page or click the x?

The thing is, they are appearing very frequently when I visit the front page.

They're extremely obnoxious ... I finally got rid of them using Adblock.

I used the firefox extension adblock features to determine the specific URL and then wildcarded everything from that domain (one of the adserver domains that produce ads that ensure I will never purchase from the vendor who has bought their services).

Spoiler for 1200p:

The popup loses its size and intrusiveness cause I of my resolution. not really annoying except when you have your speakers on full blast as sometimes the ads have sound and scares the crap out of me and wakes up the whole building.

[almost forgot: I never really visit the main page anymore, I bookmarked the RSS feed for animesuki and use that instead of the main site- hooray]

Wow, this thread hasn't seen much action since the server move/new management

Anyway, something weird, annoying and random happened when I opened up scarywater to download a torrent:

The Scarywater page isn't technically part of animesuki just so you know.

I tried that url and don't see it. Either it's a random fluke or at most I can only imagine it's caused by something injecting ads in the source of the pages before they get to you. I'd go with the first; since the ad-site doesn't seem to be one of the usual suspects.

Yeah I know it's not but AS should still be aware of things like this happening.

If by AS you mean the community as a whole, should be aware, then I agree . If you mean the staff, with respect to how and who we link to, then I do not. For the simple reason there is nothing we can do about it In fact, as you mention SW specifically, it could be the result of something being changed without mxs being aware or around to deal with it; mxs hasn't been seen/contactable for some time. Some of us have been a little concerned for a while, as all things SW eventually grind to a halt without him at the helm

well, its 6:30 am, so I'm not too sure, but I think I just saw some ads soliciting certain well known adult publications

Just now was hijacked upon reaching the top page. That's the main torrent page at http://www.animesuki.com/ . Hijacks to http://72.51.46.141/8201350ty/h.html, with a "please support our advertiser below" heading, and a tiny "skip this ad" link at the top. I think that qualifies as both big and intrusive, since it, you know, steals the entire page.

Will have to wait for GHDpro to get a chance to check what options have been enabled for the adverts but as far as I'm aware nothing should pop anywhere, let alone fill the screen. You say "Hijacks", which does not sound like something we've activity opted to do.

Does it happen frequently or is this a one off? Also, what IP address do you get for animesuki.com?

Not frequently, but I do remember it happening once before. Only one other time, though. And I'm afraid I have no idea how to find out what IP address I get for animesuki.com.

If it was frequent I'd be more worried about an issue with adware or something on my machine. But I haven't seen any signs of this on any other site, and only twice total here, which is why I suspect it's more likely one of the various advertisers for the site is misbehaving.

I actually didn't even try clicking the "skip this ad" link. I don't generally trust things that take over my browser, so I just killed the window after copying the URL and came back in new one.
