I'm surprised the trailers show bullet, amane and that other BBCP dude, I thought they were only doing calamity trigger, I hope they do a OVA with some gag endings, i really liked Rachel's gag ending where Ragna got a harem lol

The trailer was just showing off animation from the games before cutting to stuff from the show.

Except for Bang's, Arakune's and Carl's, since we still don't have any idea if they'll be appearing. Those are the 3 names that don't appear in the credits.

At least Bang is in it. Sugita (Ragna's VA) said that since the anime will be original material we would get a better look on why the civilians from Ikaruga looks up to him.

Not that much interesting is said, after all the first half of the video is for BBCP.

Lets see what else there was. Better look at Jin, that he isn't only a "Nii-san, Nii-san machine". Hazama will appear at the start or near start. It will be easier to understand the plot for first time viewer than it was for the game player playing the game for the first time. It was hard to fit Rachel's dialog since she talks so slowly that they had to cut a lot of the dialog.

Well the next episode is "Successor of the Azure" so CT part can already be over in the next episode.

Well... the series is only aimed at those who played the game: they did a okay job in term of introducing some characters and their personality but the absolute lack of setting (be it factions, locations etc) is disturbing, unless they want to make the real intro later on.

That aside, the first episode wasn't exactly good news in term of quality: battles are pretty lame looking with a notable issue in term of framerate and execution in general. The most glaring example of that is Ragna VS Jin battle which is close to a clipshow to the point even the lipsynch isn't right.
I guess "some scenes" will be fun, but at best it is a seiyuu series...

The thing here: a number of the characters from Continuum Shift actually do first appear in the first game. It's just that they're not playable.

For instance, Tsubaki and Makoto first appear in the original Blazblue game during Noel's scenario in "Story Mode" when she recalls her time at the academy.

Sugita was right... anime that are based on fighting games are jinxed.

Blazblue's story is convoluted to begin with - sure doesn't help with the lack of explanation or low quality of artwork...

The pacing is terrible and like Klashikari said: nothing really gets explained for the people who didn't read and played the fighting games

I can sort of see why this could be so so I'll guess I'll have to wait until the third episode but if not... God damn that looked completely phoned in. Absurdly fast pacing, some of the worst scene direction I've seen in a while and the insane amounts of rough cuts between scenes was just sad. It really looks like fighting game anime are jinxed :-\

Btw who's directing and penning the script for this?
