Nice animation, but this ep.1 is all style.
It gives us very little on the direction of the story.

Uemura Yuto's acting is a little disappointing too.

only at Japan it leaves by netflix and there is still a delay in the transmission in relation to the TV, there is not the slightest forecast for when this will come to the west, it can take 1 year like what happened with Kakegurui.

I can be honest, for me Netflix should get involved only when they want to create material for themselves, like Devilman or Aico, everything is transmitted simultaneously in the world, but when they decide to only be part of the production committee (buy streaming rights), it gives this headache , they are by far inferior to Amazon or Crunchyroll.

Luckily the raw of the episode transmitted on the AT-X channel is already available, should not be long before there are subs.

That was quite a good first episode, and the action and animation is top notch. The only disappointment is the girl, whom I guess is the main heroine. I hope my disappointment will be dispelled later but right now I just find her character to be weak - would rather she have a stronger personality more suited to the series - hopefully she will be able to fight. Nevertheless, looking forward to the rest of the series.

I liked the first episode too. The music stands out a lot and I love the action sequences.
Yuliy looks to be an interesting character and I quite like how he's being portrayed, so I'll probably watch it all the way till the end.

this episode seemed to have had such a 90's vibe. I liked it, it was a good start.

^Dunno about this series, but in others, usually werewolf while superior in any way to vampire, doesn't possess limitless lifespan
Like Wolverine, longer life, but not immortal
So there's that

Also, there's that absorption of knowledge and power by bloodsucking

In Shiki though, werewolf is an evolved version of vampire

Here it seems strong vampire has superpower

Too little info, will wait for more episodes

First impressions were pretty good, nice animation and interesting setting.

One to watch I think.

Also love the fact that theres a burley red headed Irishman on the team.

That was a seriously great premiere. Hit all the right notes for me. The characters were colourful. The writing was sharp. The pacing was fast (but it didn't feel too fast considering how much ground it was covering). The music got me pumped. And the animation was fantastic. I sure hope to God that they didn't pour all their resources into just that one episode though.

The characters struck me as kinda bland, to be honest, but damn - the eye candy was fantastic. Andou is obviously a stud, and he has a great team for this. The visuals are kind of an interesting Bones-PAW hybrid.

Was looking forward to this since I'm fan of vampire/werewolves fiction. Certainly didn't disappoint on that front, characters designs and animation were especially nice. Story on a whole isn't anything hasn't been done, but handle with good deal of finesse and energy.

Vampires are a metaphor for rich guys living off the blood of the less fortunate. Werewolves are a metaphor for out-of-control base urges.

Do you mean in general? Because vampire origins, and myths are way more varied then that.

I also wish we could get away from vampires going poof in the daylight. It's kind of funny how a movie (Nosferatu) that was ripping off Bram Stocker's Dracula (which itself was just a mishmash of various vampire myths) but changed some things to try and hide that fact ended up influencing popular cultures modern take on vampires so much.

Indeed they are. A simple example would be jiang-shi, as represented in Darkstalkers/Vampire Savior by Lei-Lei/Hsien-ko (they also show up, if I recall right, in one of Sleeping Dogs' extra scenarios). There's also Warhammer Fantasy's take on them, which includes one faction (the Strigoi) who embrace their baser urges, much like lycanthropes are oft said to do. Speaking of which latter, while werewolves are the most well-known, there're far from the only kind of 'were' to be found; D&D has fun with this (reference).

The Blade movies, as I recall, tried to explain this as extreme sensitivity to UV radiation. Such rationales aside, it'd be interesting to see a setting where the vampires themselves purposely spread such misinformation...

I'm saying in general. Of course, there are exceptions, and all kinds of permutations, alterations and so on.

But if you're going to, say, describe a common vampire... not try for "our vampires are different" thing, not dig up the most obscure myths or anything... What do you get? Bloodsucking, certainly, and black clothes... and aristocratic. Even to the point of living in a castle.

While for werewolves... Sure, vampires may have an affinity for vermin, but that's just a part of what they are. OTOH, werewolves are practically nothing but a cross between man and animal, in various proportions.
