Please recommend a nice comedy

Hi folks,
please recommend to me a nice comedy. Slice-of-life is good, but not necessary. Licensed or unlicensed. Nothing ecchi, please.

Examples of what I've enjoyed so far:

-lucky star (the lucky channel segments)
-Ika Musume
-school rumble

etc.

Anything like this springs to mind, especially around current series?

Minami-ke, if you haven't seen it already - especially the first season. From the more recent crop I'd say Working!, Soredemo, and Baka-Test are all excellent. Mitsudomoe was actually my favorite comedy of 2010, but might be too ecchi for your tastes.

I'm going to second Baka-Test, this has always given me a good laugh from time to time.

I'll second Working!.

K-On, especially the second season was great comedy/slice of life done together.

Others if you don't mind perverted humor without any actual ecchi, you might like Seitokai Yakuindomo. Or try Seitokai no Ichizon for more parody humor.

On the subject of student councils, I neglected to mention the brilliant Seitokai no Ichizon.

Level E is showing to have a decent comedy about it, nothing ecchi, abusive, that's probably the element that makes people enjoy it

Not going to repeat what was already said, but I'm going to comment that all those recommendations are awesome picks.

Also, you might want to take a look at:

Great Teacher Onizuka
Hayate no Gotoku!
Paniponi Dash!
Ranma 1/2

And even though Mitsudomoe was ecchi in a way (and I despise shows that use that to force humor), it was very well done so try giving it a chance.

Agree with Minami-Ke, it's one of the best slice of life comedy IMO...

Ichigo Mashimaro is kinda childish as you'll see but if you liked Ika-musume I think you wouldn't have a problem on this one... another gem when it comes to slice-of-life comedy.

Seto no Hanayome is crazier than Sukuran (School Rumble) in my opinion and I think does fit in what you called best comedy anime ^^..

Skip Beat's main character isn't just a plain funny character, but a really hilarious one.. she's one of the best female character IMO... if you aren't picky on the char. designs which is kinda shoujou-ish, I highly recommended this one.

Baka To Test is funny and kinda innovative but will leave you seeking for more ^^...

GTO (Great Teacher Onizuka) is kinda old but still remained as one of the best comedy series of all time in the opinion of many fans I think. ^^ (with ecchi though)

Cromartie High ~ one word.... "crazy" ^^

I can't believe no one's mentioned it yet. But if you enjoyed Lucky Star, you should look into The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. I haven't seen all of Lucky Star, but they share a very similar theme from what I've gathered.
