Grr, I can see Ada becoming a tragic character like that unfortuantly. One of the themes in the series is people making contracts with the Abyss to accomplish something and having those contracts go horribly awry. But at the same time I don't think that every person in the series is going to end up with a contract so I would just say that Vincent is going to use Ada as a hostage, but that's already been done with Sharon so maybe Vincent will just throw her in the Abyss, push Oz over the edge and then see what happens next.

More like finally break down. The number of near BSODs he had in the recent chapters were just about concurrent. Hate/Love to see how Oz's is going to let go when no one's around to rein him in.

If she can get out. It seems Alyss (Alice+Abyss) is stuck down there. Other than that, the price of fulfilling a contract with her is going to enormous, given that she's definitely no regular chain. (If she even counts as one?)

I'm still wondering who/what Oz actually is. I used to think he was just Jack's reincarnation, but then they said he was a container (which would usually count as a reincarnation, but then they said if Oz died, Jack would return, or something like that).

In addition to the fact he can use B-Rabbit's power (well, that could be attributed to his status as an illegal contractor), and he seems to have DID.

The way I have interpreted it was that Oz is his own person (his own body, mind, soul, all that good stuff) and that Jack's soul happens to reside in his body as well. Reincarnation would indicate that it's the exact same soul and since what Jack did seems to be similar to what Glen was trying to do I'm inclined to say it's more like a possession than reincarnation. I'm just curious if Jack's soul has been in Oz since he was born, which would explain why his very birth was a sin but leaves a big plot hole on how Jack knew that Oz would be so pivotal, although that could be blamed on the time-shifting nature of the Abyss and Jack took advantage of that; Or if Jack's soul entered Oz later, like at the coming-of-age ceremony when Oz makes the bell toll and Oz only saw Jack for the first time after he got out of the Abyss.

it seems Break is blind now, it seems its an after effect of abusing of his power. Something is wrong with Phillip and there is something about that orphan place the Nightrays have, they seem to experiment on the children there, I assume it might be something like what they did to Lacie, a sacrifice to the Abyss and Phillip seems to be the center of attention, at least thats what the manga shows...it also shows that he has mental problems, poor kid T_T

Phillip, since he really seems a little curious and his behaivor in the scans was a bit off. Though I believe that the Break being blind is true, I looked at the scans pretty closely and noticed a few details and it does show that he is indeed blind...broke my heart T_T

Just got Vol 8. There's a short story titled "Pandora Hearts". Seems to be the proto-layout for the Pandora Hearts we know now, with Gil, Oz, Abyss and Pandora, Contractors around. Though the meaning of those terms differ by some here.

Also a couple of pages that I don't think was covered in the manga translations are in here. Reim comes from a noble house as well and has been working in the Barma house since young. He was tasked with delivering some letters from Rufus to Cheryl one day. Duchess Cheryl tore up the letters after reading them and since Reim was told not to return until he got a reply from her, he stayed at the Reinsworth household for two years.

Hmm, looks like Pandora is becoming fragmented, makes sense since the four duke houses all try to exert some degree of control over Pandora. Just a question, does this country still have a ruling family (i.e. monarch)? Just thought if they were really powerful that they would at least be mentioned by now, I guess the Ducal houses really do hold all the power.
Oh Duke Barma, you know I had been wondering if he had only been messing with Oz when he used that puppet, it appears that he messes with everyone with that puppet. And it does appear that the Lady Rainsworth goes along with it since she always has Rufus along as an attendant at these meetings...
Holy, have we ever seen the Duke Nightray's face before? We just got a decent profile here and dang, Elliot does not take after his daddy at all, Nighttray looks like the stero-typical villain here.
Funny,, Uncle Oscar is referred to as the Duke in here, has he actually replaced Zai as the head of the family? I thought he was only an acting Duke but this does explain his close ties to Pandora I suppose.

So it's now three days after the events of Sablier, things are really starting to move fast now.
And apparently our heros are responsible for Sablier starting to collapse, uh, whoops.
Aw, Oz's little confession to Elliot was cute, and complete with shojuo sparkles!
"THIS WILL BE CONTINUED NEXT TIME!" Elliot is such a drama king (queen?).
And Gil denies that he met Jack in Sablier, I hope that Gil gets all of his emotions and thoughts in order by the end of the next arc....
Wow, Break looks like Jack when he makes the sush gesture. XD
And yes Break is now blind. It's not explicitly stated why but I know a lot of people suspect it's due to his contract slowly killing him. But I forgot, why is his contract having such an effect on him while Sharon's doesn't?
Figures that the Nighttray's can't do anything nice, it appears that the orphanage exists as a test site to expose people to the Abyss and see what happens. That might explain Phillipe's creepy little conversation on the phone there (dunno why but that scene is really creeping me out...).

So, any other comments or discussion?

The last panel actually has Cheryl answering chibi-Sharon's plea of a new brother with Reim.

The royal family probably survived the tragedy of Sablier. Otherwise the remaining noble houses would have engaged in bloody fighting to take over the country, the Vessalius household wouldn't have been as prominent as well.

As for Break, his actual age is probably like nearly fifties by now I guess? Add to that it is his 2nd contract. Double the stress of not aging as well.

I know a few people on the PH LJ came up with some really good timelines the other day explaining the ages of Break and Sharon and the rest, and I remember Reim being there! I had been puzzled when it was said he was Duke Barma's servant since I remembered him at the Rainsworth house, the trouble of having crazy masters I suppose.

Of course, my favorite part of this months chapter was the continuation of Break's development. It's gonna be interesting to see being blind will do to his character during future events, and i hate to think that it's raised his death flag quite a bit. Not like i think he's going to die, but you know, i'll be just more worried then usual.

We also get more awesome Rufus, and Gil finally decides on the usual.

A combination of laziness and curiosity if anyone else would revive the thread kept me from posting about this month's chapter. Soooooo

Spoiler for hopefully better late than never, chapter 43:

So Break is blind and the artist experiments with purple hair for him. White looks better IMO.
Liam can't resist the chance to make funny faces at him, lol.
And Break still proves he is awesome by being able to guess what Liam was doing from his breath. And he can still recognize objects in front of him but not people's faces, so mostly blind but after a few days he'll be able to fake being able to see (probably a good thing he was so weird to start with anyway, no one will think anything of it).
And he still has faith in his ability to be thrown into combat and kill everyone there. Considering his past that doesn't surprise me as much as it should....
Liam's secretary powers activate! And it's because he's his friend, I think the number of BreakxLiam shippers has gone up tons in these past few chapters.
Perhaps with Break having to tone it down for a while Sharon will get some more spotlight time. We know she's a strong contractor and intelligent as well but with so many other great characters see seems to get overshadowed.
I'll admit, when I saw Oz start to unbutton his shirt in front of Gil my first thought was that he was going to seduce Gil into telling him what happened in Sablier. XD Too many fan art for me I think....
"My body seems to be changing mysteriously....." It's called puberty Oz-oh wait, wrong fandom!
Honestly though, Oz's hand does seem to be turning rather fast, it's almost halfway completed and Pandora Hearts has only been set over a few months (minus all the time skips). I'm starting to wonder if one of the powers of B. Rabbit is that the power slowly transfers from chain to contractor and that in the end the contractor is dragged into the Abyss as the new black rabbit. It would explain how Alice didn't remember being B. Rabbit in the past but the B. Rabbit was recorded and would explain how Oz has been able to take control of the power without Alice or Gil's help.
People still don't know that Oz is alive? Pandora must spend some serious money on bribes considering how many people there have seen Oz. Besides, the four duke's houses already know he's alive too, or that's at least what I thought.
Barma really worries me, I do think that he might go over to the Baskervilles in the end, if he's already holding knowledge back from the other dukedoms what connection does he still hold with them?
And why does Barma want Oz to find where the seal was? So Pandora can protect it and prevent Glen? So he can break it and help the Baskervilles? And I see that we are also shifting gears from "searching for Alice's memories" to "finding the seals," poor Alice.
Which chain was that that Barma had? It didn't look like a Dodo or an Owl although I think on the LJ people were saying it was the dodo.
Whoa, you forget since he never uses it, but Raven is probably one of the most powerful chains out there, guess everyone else forgot as well. Gil also seems to have made peace with himself and won't be able to be exploited anymore, yay!
On a finale note, did Rufus just murder some of Pandora's guards? Or was that a Baskerville at the end?

- Break you get my love. He can be so amusing and fun, but in other moment scary. Even being almost blind he is ready to kick everyone his path including Liam(poor Liam xD). His contract puts lot of strain on his body, it could be cause of Mad Hatter is special chain. Me thinks maybe while he was in Abyss. Break was affected by Abyss and turned partly in chain like Alice. Or Mad Hatter was given to him by W.Alice. To accomplish her wish, entrusted to him, and what she entrusted him to do?I don't think its connection with finding Jack.
- About Oz he really seems starting to turn in chain, as Jack said he don't need seal, to use B.Rabbit's power. Or he already was chain before coming to real world or same how connected with Abyss. And it still not revealed why his existence is sin, and his sin should be taken back to darkness of Abyss.
- Another thing what bothers me is that what said Glen. "It is impossible to have Its own will, and it is not allowed to have it. That's why we Baskervilles have to own The Will of Abyss..."It sound like W.Alice get control over Abyss, by some kinda incident. Before she was born all power belonged to Baskervilles.
- How Jeck was able to kill Glen? Glen posessed realy powerfull chains. I suppose Jack got B.Rbitts somewhere (B.Rabbit was called most powerful chain). Could B.Rabbit kill 5 chains? Or Glen was able to control one chain at same time... .
- As for Barma I don't think he will go with Baskerville's. I think Duke Nightray and Zai is plotting something with Baskerville's. Barma knows that and that's why he hides information from other duke houses. His chain to me looked like Dodo.
Me thinks it wasn't Barma who killed men's from Pandora. That more seems like Oz's destination. And those dead Pandor men's, probably was sent by Barma, to get information from Sorcerer's descendant. But they failed and was killed. Now he sends Oz, and wondering will be more usefull than his men's.
