Rockman 9 confirmed

Looks like it'll only be available through WiiWare and it's going back to 8-bit graphics. Too bad the scans aren't too great of quality.

Story summary, bosses, and Inafune's reason to use 8-bit graphics at http://www.rockmanpm.com/.

Edit: Some screenshots over at Mega Man Network.

I just read about this today. Its cool that they're are keeping the classic style feel to the game.

Holy shit. I never thought this day would come. Now all we need is Legends 3 to be announced next week

In all seriousness though, I've only played the X series, and not too thoroughly either (I skipped most of X5 and X6.. we'll pretend X7 and half the levels of X8 don't exist). I've never played the classic series, nor have I played the Zero or ZX series that Inti Creates has developed, so this should be an interesting fresh reboot to Mega Man for me, once it comes out...

Yeah, Legends 3 really needs to be made. They can't just leave it at a cliff hanger. Not to mention, they were some fun games with great characters.

Inti Creates is a good choice considering how good the gameplay is in Zero/ZX. Now, I just want to hear some of the music to see if it lives up to the other 8-bit Rockman games.

I like Rockman (Megaman 1)! I remember playing it on the NES all those years ago. Just recently got my hands on the rest of the original series, so it's gonna be good to play through.

I've known about this for at least a week. This move is so Capcom. For most of a year they will go absolutely by the book on every game they release not daring to change whatever winning formula they have and then all of a sudden WHAM! They'll come out with an idea that totally breaks with the rest of the Japanese gaming industry that will set the bar higher. That's why they continue to be one of my favourite gaming companies. While Japan's gaming market heads further down it's creativity rut, they keep pulling surprises. That's why I think if the gaming market does indeed crash that Capcom will be one of the survivors.

I like how they're going back to 8-bit graphics, though I wonder if it'll be a good game. Megaman 1&2 were great in my opinion, but the countless sequels that were made were quite "meh".

I think you may have misread something. It was mentioned that it needs to be announced, not that it is. I'm sure I'd react the same way if I heard that, though.

Well, he said he wants to surpass Rockman 2 with this one. Kinda makes me wonder if he was even trying to do that with the previous games.

Yeah, the first female robot master. I'm surprised it took this long.

Holy!!! And I thought the Rockman series has ended! I was once a Rockman fan, but when it ended in megaman8 here in the U.S. I kinda thought that's it it's finished.

Great news from Capcom!

Rockman 9 footage

Well, there's the first video of the game. Rockman PM has news that it's confirmed for Xbox Live and PSN as well as WiiWare. Plus, it'll only be $10.

Yeah this information has been out for a while but that doesn't stop the enthusiasm that comes with the announcement. This is what I always saw the WiiWare capable of, for it to be a medium for other games that perhaps wouldn't have the means to be released on other platforms even if it is 8-bit. This should be great, that footage looks good.
