TRUE END is a happy ending. The reverse thinking is the ending is not so happy.
At least, the manga is not about dealing about let it go.

My veeeery rough understanding of it is two kids hear a story about a monster from their grandmother? They visit the spot? At the end Rea scares them away, then it seems Rea knows their grandmother?

Does that mean Rea has been stuck at that place for a long long time?

Who could the grandmother be and whose kids are those?

Anyway if it's an epilogue it's a terrible end...

Since Rea seems to be still living alone in the scene of her scaring off the grand kids of either Wanko or Mero?And she never came back to live with Chihiro again?At least Rea's seems to be immortal now and hadn't aged since her death

I'm late, but I finally got around to finishing the remaining chapters this morning. I... don't know how to feel. I think the most apt way to describe it is double-trolled.

At first I was so distraught... Then happy, cuz I was all "WOAH, he did NOT do what I THINK he did! this author's AMAZING! but... I'm so SAD"... Then we get the "lol psych, it's all okay!" chapter and I was sort of happy, but of sort of disappointed about the bittersweet end dodge.

Either way, despite the times it flatout didn't make any sense... I appreciate the roller coaster of emotions that all of Sankarea put my heart through. I laughed, cried, cheered, and got pissed off the whole way through.

Bravo.

Well since its up to reader to decide you can make it as sweet as you like. You could come with an ending where Furuya is alive and Rea sent him out on prank to discuss with is sister in making up a story to lure her sister's grandkids to the cave so Rea can play tricks on them. The author left ending vague so the reader could make up an ending they desire. The most logical ending is that Furuya lived out his life with Rea until his death and, then Rea moved to cave near where Furuya's sister lives but, its basically whatever floats your boat. A ranko end is also possible based on the extra chapter

I think they are Fumiya's and Rea's grandchildren and the grandmother they mentioned must be fumiya's litte sister

I think the end of the story is better for the reader to decide on cap.56 than in the cap. extra
