The girl hugging Shizuo is Akane Awakusu of Awakusu-Kai clan, aka a Yakuza princess. She found out a bit ahead of schedule what her family really does for a living, and then she was told by Izaya that Shizuo was an assassin hired to kill her father. This cause her to try to kill Shizuo. Here's the relevant passage.

The girl with wire is Vorona, a Russian assassin who ran away with her partner with a large cache of weapon to Japan away from her 'father'. She shot and stabbed Shizuo with little effect. Shizuo decided to remove his usual restrain of not hitting woman just for once. Fortunately for her, Shizuo didn't see her face, and she's now working with Shizuo and Tom as debt collector.

In volume 7, Shizuo's enemy list got a wee bit large due to the number of people he beats up in novels 4-6. Some of them got an idea that he has a wife and daughter and decided to hurt them instead. They ran into Akane, Vorona and Izyaya's insane twin sisters.

Well, they though Vorona is his wife. Lets say she's even more violent than Shizuo and unlike Shizuo, she's not at all conflicted about it. She's also trained by former Russian Special Forces, The 'daughter' they though were either Akane (the Yakuza princess) or Izaya's sisters (insane). Lets just say that those particular chapters in Novel 7 is somewhat comedic, and the would be attackers got more than they bargin for.

What roles do Erika and Walker play from this point on?

If I'm correct, in the Preview of Episode 18, Walker was shown looking fairly suspicious, so...yeah.

As improbable as Mikado founding Dollars, Aoba founded Blue Square while still in junior high. He step aside and let his older brother Ran take over the gang when the going went rough. Ran declare war against Yellow Scarves, and Izaya was selling information to both side. Blue Square and Yellow Scarves almost mutually destruct each other. Yellow Scarves eventually absorbe a lot of former Blue Square. During that war, Aoba withheld support from his brother, not comitting his best fighter to the cause. In novel 4, Aoba and Izaya's crazy twin sisters both enter Mikado's high school. And Aoba is trying to manipulate Mikado into taking more active control over Dollars, with his faction of Blue Square as a dependable on-call muscle. He does this by picking fight against a biker gang pretending to be Dollars. Eventually, some member of Dollars (the Otaku gang, and especially Kadota have to answer the challenge by the biker gang). There's also Blue Square pretending to be Dollars also there, fighting on Dollars side. Things went south when Shizuo shows up and broke up the fight.

After that, Mikado have to do something to rein in things done in his name, and he accept Aoba's proposal. He also ask Aoba to sign a letter of agreement on a blank sheet of paper, and then calmly stab Aoba's hand with a pen. Aoba getting the message, sign the letter of agreement in his own blood, and is now totally owned by Mikado. For more, click here.

Where do these crossovers happen? It's not in the seven novels out so far -- the DVD extra novel?

In the novel, the scene Simon lectures Izaya in Russian was prefaced by Simon suckered punch Izaya. Looks like that scene as written won't make it to the show.

He is supposed to be alive, but since he's an old man already (it doesn't mean stop kicking ass though), a fight between them would be a little unfair.
