Oh... Well it doesn't really have to be that way. A lot of people might have wifes similar to mother, but it doesn't mean anything.

When Kushina was introduced, NaruSaku and NaruHina fans battled over who she resembled and was more like. Think about that. Fans were assuming that Naruto subconsciously would be attracted to the girl who was more like his mother he never met. Also they assumed Kishi would pair Naruto with someone more like Kushina. As for Shikamaru and Temari, I doubt he is looking for someone like his mother. He actually said Temari was worse than his mother. And Temari looks physically nothing like his mother. It seems more like the Nara men have a subconscious attraction to strong, tough, and independent women that has nothing to do with the Oedipus Complex. Perhaps it is because they fancy themselves passive intellectuals and desire their opposites?

I feel weird psychoanalyzing fictional characters.

Lol. Crazy shippers are crazy. I don't think they quite understand that the Oedipus complex only occurs if the son know his mother. But then again, they never do think that quite far ahead.
